MSattler 390 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Plain Install on Server 2012 R2 Trying to add a library, and when I click on network, I get nothing. It is almost as if I was running a Linux build. Any hints?
swhitmore 781 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Hmm, I run it on WHS 2012, which basicly the same thing afaik. Can you see the shares from elsewhere on the network? Are the user accounts configured correctly? Edit: Sorry I just checked, my install is actually WHS 2011 that uses Windows Server 2008. Edited March 10, 2016 by swhitmore

It's just when I go in to add a library, and get drive/network options, I click on network and get nothing..... almost as if the app cannot enumerate the network hosts.
jds828 24 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Start off with the "Advanced sharing options" > Right click on the network icon near the clock, or control panel to access. I take it your using Workgroup and not Domain? Edited March 10, 2016 by jds828

I take it your using Workgroup and not Domain? In a workgroup, yes. Network discovery under Advanced Sharing Options is on. I can browse fine through file explorer, it's just the app.
swhitmore 781 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Could it be the user that Emby is installed with, can't see the network shares?
jds828 24 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Could it be the user that Emby is installed with, can't see the network shares? It could be, it could also be your shares, as in, who can do what in the permissions. haha.... which basically means the same thing! Long day today Edited March 10, 2016 by jds828
MSattler 390 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 It could be, it could also be your shares, as in, who can do what in the permissions. The shares are wide open, and my win2k8r2 VM's do not have this issue at all. Tried both as regular user and administrator. From explorer I can launch videos and such fine.
jds828 24 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Are the shares Everyone and Everyone in security and share permissions? And as a bonus, turn off password protected sharing. You can start adding security later. And only do this on a private network and to test.
swhitmore 781 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Have you tried manually typing in the path?

MSattler 390 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Still no dice. So something interesting, I copied over the install from a working Server 2008R2 install. What I noticed is on the Server2008R2 log files I see the Watching \\tower\bluray, watching \\tower\dvd entries. I do NOT see these entries in Server 2012. It's almost as if Emby doesn't know to watch those directories? @@Luke have you seen this before at all? It's almost like on Server 2012R2 Emby cannot enumerate network shares, and/or browse the network. Edited March 10, 2016 by MSattler
MSattler 390 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Hmmm delete, fresh install, and it seems to be picking it up again. Weird. I cannot however restore a install from Server 2008R2.
jds828 24 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Some on here report they have transferred the install and it works. Only tried it once and it never worked right even though the computer name and all shares were identical. Lesson learnt and from now on, new PC/Server = New Install. Edited March 10, 2016 by jds828
