Hi,

I am a bit new to Emby but already had Pl3X for a couple of years, but in the end after some updates i am looking for a better system to organize my media files and share them thru out the house becouse it broke again and i am fed up with it.

So i found Emby and loving it already, its easy to use, really fast and has everything so i can set users (got a 14 year old kid) to have limited rights on certain content.

Absolutely a really great piece of software, and i will be a paying one also of we can get my issue fixed, because i want to support a good piece of software.

Here's the thing, i own 3 LG TV's, we bought them last christmas for the living room and 2 bedrooms, really nice TV's with Web OS 2.0 from LG in it, now come the funny part if i use DNLA to the Emby server its fine, everything connected by wire so reacting super fast.

But of course like a good media freak i like to have the pretty Emby dashboard on my big TV in the living room now here come the surprise for some reason this does not work, i can see in de Emby server that i am connected but the page stays empty :(, this came as a shock, because any laptop, I-pad and my Tab play eveything just fine accept the TV's ????.

Anybody any ideas ?.

Greetings,

G.

so you're trying to use the emby web interface on the lg tv, is that correct?

That's what I understood, too.

I've done that before, but using native LG web browser as interface gave me a feeling of "emulating" the real experience, also because I compare with the already existing TV app for Samsung.

Running Emby as app in TV would be a much transparent and seamless experience.

Extra answer:

The Web OS 2.0 browser in the LG TV's (version 2015) are absolutely looking and feeling like a normal browser (in the background its Chrome), supports HTML5 etc etc.

No i have not, i have LG TV's :):), but i can imagine that it will look good, but i would be already be really pleased to have the browser working because there is no LG application yet ??, and the good point of using the browser is no need to install anything, it always (almost i have recently learned :)) works.

I am at this point also looking over the pages from the Emby webserver code to see if i can find where it would need tweaking to get it working.

Any pointers ?.

what is it you intend to do? manage the server or watch content?

The 2015 lg browser is improved but is still missing some important features. you can also check out the web based version of emby theater:

http://emby.media/emby-theater-web.html

Note that it does not work yet with LG, but is seeing active, daily development working towards that goal.

Hi Luke,

Just watch content on the TV, the rest is done by an old windows 7 machine that has been turned in to a NAS.

Thank you for the quick answer and i have checked out the theater web based application, really nice !!!.

And i will have to see how to fix my issue then i guess with not being able to use Emby thru a webpage for now on the LG TV's.

I tried to do this the other day as well. I was sad that it didn't work.

However there are some other ways to get your media to the tv. Windows 10 can actually cast media directly to the tv. Since I just moved Emby to a Win10 box this isn't a huge imposition. I don't get to use the Emby interface (Emby doesn't see the tv as being a device to send to) but it does work. Other options would be to use a game console and DLNA to browse your Emby server.

I understand that none of these meet your needs, and until either Emby supports LG devices or LG improves their browser you, and I, are out of luck.

With the help of another community member the app is looking very good now on WebOS. It will eventually be packaged into an LG app. You can monitor progress by periodically checking out tv.emby.media as it's the same thing as the app.

Just to confirm if I understood it... so the TV that uses this new apps will have to use the random-generated numbers, allright?

When a local server version of "tv.emby.media" comes... this will be replaced by the user pin, right?

it will be exactly the same.

I just noticed that https://tv.emby.media in my browser this time (just now) didn't ask for password or anything.

If it is only one-time password-entering per device and it is recorded in some kind of cookies.... I'm good with that. Perfect, to tell the truth.

My worry was: each time TV would be turned on, having to type this random-number somewhere.

From what I can tell, it is one-time on the device.

I need to check this on my tv when I get home tonight. Would be great if this is working!
