HD Playback/Artifacts within a Gigabit-network

Hello everybody,

just installed the new Emby Theatre. It feels smoother than the old version, but...

Once I playback a Full HD Movie from my NAS via gigabit ethernet to my computer monitor (just for testing), I get a terrible resolution and lots of artifacts. Just like if I tried to access the movie via a very low bandwidth connection.

If I play the movie directly from the NAS via VLC etc. I get the expected clear HD resolution...

Is there a switch or a configuration item I might have missed?

Regards

Alex

Ensure the app has direct access to the media paths and that Windows DWM (Aero) is enabled and running.

Hm,

the paths have not changed, I access the NAS via \\nas\movies; with the "old" version of Emby, I did not have any issues with the resolution.

Aero is running (DWM.exe)...

System is Windows 10.

Regards

Alex

Start a movie playing.  While it plays, pop open the server UI in a browser, go to the dashboard, and look at the entry for your ET instance under Active Devices.  Does it say its transcoding?  If so I'd post a server and transcode log to start.

OK, I found a solution. Actually the playback was direct, tx for the tip with the dashboard.

Once I changed the video output renderer from EVR+ to MadVR, the movies are smooth as ever without any visible artifacts...
