danswan 13 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) When attempting to access the web interface whilst away from home, I am no longer able to use my Dynamic DNS. I use the Asus Dynamic DNS which came with my router, and this works fine for other services (I'm connected to remote desktop using it right now). I'm using windows server, currently Version 3.0.5897.0 This has always worked perfectly up until the last week or so, but now when going to http://<my dynamic dns address>:8096 I get the message: Bad Request (Name contains invalid characters). Accessing via http://<my IP>:8096 works as always. I've tried rebooting my router, can't think of much else to try. Any ideas? Edited March 7, 2016 by danswan
Luke 42080 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Hi, welcome. If it's reaching Emby Server but raising an error, then please see how to report a problem for additional information that is required to diagnose. If it's not reaching Emby Server at all then I would take a look at our Connectivity Troubleshooter and try the steps there. If you're not sure, then I'd probably suggest doing both.
danswan 13 Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 Not an Emby issue, it's connectivity, and it seems to be caused by my Dynamic DNS provider (Asus). Weird, as all other services work using the asuscomm Dynamic DNS, but Emby suddenly stopped working last week. I have a different dynamic DNS set up with no-ip and this one works fine. It's no big deal, I was just curious as to why this might be.
