Toro 0 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, I just re registered from old forums to here. Wanted to express my appreciation for this labor of love you guys created that me and my family use pretty much everyday. I was an mb2 supporter and will also contribute to this as soon as I get my bearings here. The holidays have left me little wiggle room to attempt making the switch from mb2 (which works flawlwssly) to this new incarnation. But I have been thinking about it and have a few simple questions: 1. I understand that server and classic can all go on same machine (htpc), if this is the case and I later have to move server to another machine (an actual server), What would this entail ? 2. I understand that Classic is most like my current mb2 setup, Does this mean that with a server/classic setup I still need to setup my codecs like before (in my case, I use shark007.) 3. Can all 3 (server/classic/theater) go on same machine ? I understand that Theater has its own codecs so if I went with all 3, does theater launch from wmc/classic ? Cablecard and my prime/live tv prevent me from ditching wmc. So can theater be used as the external player thus eliminating shark007 codecs? 4. Do I need my supporter key for any of the new stuff? Just trying to wrap my head around it before actually doing it, sorry for newbish questions. I appreciate the feedback. Edited December 22, 2013 by Toro
Tikuf 663 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 1. Install the server on the other machine and set up libraries (if they are the same path you should be able to copy the data over from %appdata%\MediaBrowser-Server 2. Yes but i highly recommend just using lav filters 3. A. Yes B. yes it can be made to launch from wmc C. Not so much an external player but it will launch from wmc in its own process and have same (but better) functionality as wmc. 4. Yes you will need an mb3 supporter key and you can plug your mb2 key in for plugins you have paid for in mb2. Hope that helps And welcome 1
Toro 0 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 but it will launch from wmc in its own process and have same (but better) functionality as wmc. Ok, I installed all 3 on a test machine. How does Theater launch from wmc ?
gcw07 347 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Ok, I installed all 3 on a test machine. How does Theater launch from wmc ? MB Theater is a stand alone program. It no longer requires WMC.
Toro 0 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 I realize that, so can't it be used as the external player ? Thus not needing to use 3rd party codecs.

It is an entire replacement for the MB Classic plugin that exists within WMC. If you want a player, I'd suggest just using MPC-HC.
ebr 16169 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 But, if you installed LAV, you shouldn't need an external player for anything except full BD folder rips/ISOs.
