atharmian 3 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I have been trying to create a User acct, separate from Administrator (with full access as customary.) But even though I uncheck the first item, like "allow server access", upon http access, this User acct still shows the "Server Restart/ Shutdown" tiles under Settings. What I want is a User account setup such that via http this User acct only has access to say Live TV and Library, but not any server functions. That is, just a user who can receive streams over the browser connection, but no ability to impact server or configuration settings or downloads etc.
Luke 42080 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Allow server access? what setting do you mean exactly?
atharmian 3 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Luke, Under Users for my user setting, I have unchecked, " Allow this user to manage the server." What I see under Settings from Chrome http access, is Server Information xxxxyyyy, and the Restart and Shutdown squares. What I am attempting to do is use the http access as an away-from-home test ( without any app downloads), to see if I can stream IPTV TV Guide like channels from Emby Server to a browser client, before I start loading content. But I don't want this user account to access my server settings: this should just be a "user" not an admin account, to be used only to watch content displayed on the Server page. So for now there is no (recorded) content on Emby Server. As another of my inquiries under Windows/General says, I then was trying to load m3u playlists for Video Bookmarks (and cannot.) Meanwhile I noticed that my User account offers Server shutdown options in my remote Chrome browser client, which I do not want. As aside, Kodi, as you know of course, does accept m3u playlists (one each for local and remote on IPTV Simple Client, or many for PlayList Loader.) But Kodi's web access (via default, Chrous or Chrous2 web servers) only results in the remote browser displaying a window and a bottom notification of current channel playing in Kodi (e.g,. BBC1 or RT TV channels.) But I cannot see the actual TV channel playing in the remote browser main window- I am assuming this is owing to Kodi's lack of transcoding. Or, maybe there is some configuration error ! Edited March 7, 2016 by atharmian
Luke 42080 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 i can't reproduce the issue. are you sure you're logged in with the user that you think you are? try signing out and back in. if i try to sign in with a non-admin user i am bounced out to the login screen. nonetheless, even if there is a display issue in the web interface, the api also has it's own protections so they are not actually going to be able to do anything. but i think it's just a matter of you haven't actually set the permission, or you're logged in using your admin user.
atharmian 3 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Luke, Thanks ! I logged out and signed in as non-admin User. Results as expected- no server access ! Now that this item is resolved, can you, as prime dev, shed some light on the m3u playlist to Video Bookmarks issue? I noticed similar requests, but don't know the current status.
atharmian 3 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Luke, This too was an admin/non issue. I logged into the server as admin, clicked on Video Bookmarks to Open and was able to input an http link that did not play (http://kodilive.eu/tv with logos at http://kodilive.eu/logo.) And t I don't see how to edit/ delete it Anyway will work on it. Need to learn a lot. Thanks again. Cheers, Athar,
