Movies In Parts - Do They Work Still ??

Hey folks,

So I was just wondering if anyone had any movies in multiple parts and if they do, does that movie still play in its entirety?

Reason I'm asking is that I have one movie that is in parts and all that will play is the first part   :(   Each part is suffixed with -pt# (in my case 1 through 13) just like the wiki tells me to do, but still, only part 1 plays.

Also, because this particular movie is actually in 13 parts, do you think that would be messing things up at all? I was expecting that at least parts 1 through 9 would have played, but nope, only -pt1 plays and then the movie is "watched"!

For those wondering, the movie is 'Pixar Short Films Collection 1 (2007)' and is in 13 parts because that's what MakeMKV did to it   B)

Any pointers?

Dodgy Bob

Which app are you using to watch your content?

Oh yeah, probably should have added that hey!

Currently am using the Samsung App ... and yeah, I'll go test now in the Web App! Doh, should have remembered to do that first.

Sorry...

OK, just checked in the Web App, in Chrome and nope, doesn't work; only plays -pt1 and then throws me back to the main movie page.

I did notice that the Web App does pickup that there are other parts to the movie, but still, it doesn't play them (see below).

I'll see if FF and IE do the same, I suspect they will - and yes, IE and FF and Chrome are all at their latest versions.

the answer is yes they're supported in terms of server organization but in terms of playback we have just not been able to dedicate a whole lot of time to them. so in the web client that means you currently have to play one at a time.

As far as the Samsung app is concerned it neither displays the second part nor plays it automatically.  I put in a feature request awhile back, but don't believe it was ever implemented.  To tell you the truth I sort of never followed up on it since I just ended up using mkvtoolnix to merge movies like Ben Hur which are in multiple parts.

Mkvtoolnix is super easy and quick to join videos

Ahhh, OK then, I'll give that a burl.

I hadn't stepped outside of using MakeMKV at this stage because everything else just works and this is the only movie so far that I've run into that has messed up like this.

I'll post back with how things go.

Thanks FrostByte. Thanks Spaceboy.

Note that in the case of your example I would not combine the videos.  Name them as individual movies and put them in a collection.  All the pixar shorts have full individual metadata on tmdb and there is an existing collection ID.

Oh really? Nifty.

OK, well I might try that instead then - seeing as I have not been able to get around to test joining them yet!

Thanks @@Deathsquirrel  :)
