Displaying manually created box sets

I manually created a box set for three videos I that I wanted to group togeather. When I click on the Collections heading in MBT, all of my videos appear forcing me to scan through them to reach the collection I created.

Is this behavior normal? I would think only my collection should appear. If not, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

From your post it appears you are confusing collections with boxsets.

These are two different things.

A collection is what you set up in the server as one or more locations where your media is stored, whereas a boxsets  are directories within your colection that have 2 ore more related movies in them.

Both are defined differently in the server and show up differently as well.

Before I go in to detail, can you check if this might be the issue?

Ernst, you are right. I was trying to create a manual box set for my movies.

A8HTPC, I tried to modify a TV xml file, but not being that familiar with MBT (or xml statements), I ended up with something short of what I wanted. I think the 3D, Blueray, DVD catagories in the link you provided shows what I am trying to achieve. I just don't want any references to a tv series in the final product.

So, any help I can get to have my three videos appear as a box set will be appreciated. Maybe posting a working xml file would help.

Thanks

Its pretty simple, I didn't modify any XML files at all. All about folder structure. BluRay DVD and TV are just categories that point to specific media folders. all my TV series movies are located in a separate folder. Bluray movies are in their own folder as well as DVD movies. You then go into the Dashboard of MB server, and I think its called default media databases or something. In there is where I listed bluray, DVD, TV Series. TV series is categorized as "Movies" not "TV"

Its late over here, I gata get some sleep but if you don't get the help then I'll post up what I did.

In fact....you being able to modify xml files to get something close is more smarts than I got. I know nothing about XML files

If your just simply trying to create a box set then create make a folder and place your 3 foladers and movies inside it. The top level folder name it what you want I.e. Die Hard Collection, then add a [box set] tag at the end of the name and rescan your media collection. The [box set] tag tells MB server its a boxset and will add it to your box set collections. You can also place backdrop and folder images in the top level "Die Hard Collection" folder too.... If you want to have a separate "collection" of only boxsets you will have to create a new subdirectory/ collection and move all your boxsets under that category and point MB server to it otherwise your boxsets will stay mixed in with your movie collection. As far as I know, not many themes if any have a box set link like you find at the top of the page when searching using the web ui. Maybe down the line more themes will add a separate box sets entry. Hope that makes sense and helps lol

Is the tag [boxset] or [box set]? Or MB3 understands both?

It is [boxset].
