Samsung just announced that no 2016 TV will have 3D. Looks like the craze is finally dead.

I only watched maybe 4 3D movies on my samsung. Not worth the effort.

Yup. The tv manufacturers are in a price war, anything non-essential that increases cost has to go.

lol, except they don't seem to be dropping curved screens or 4k on < 80" screens (although I guess the ability to see a difference between 1080 and 4k and a normal viewing distance seems to be up for debate)

But yea, 3D was stupid and just another way manufacturers are trying to get everyone to spend money on new TVs and bring back the glory days of the HDTV upgrade bonanza.

Well, too bad there was so few actual 3D movies.   Most of the crap released was just postprocessing so was a big meh.   The handful of "real" ones I have are kinda cool too watch now and then.

For a while my friends would insist on us seeing any movie in 3D and I got sick of it really quick. Avatar blew my mind, but every movie after had 3D added in post-production and it shows. The 3D is just noise, and in a lot of cases made it harder to tell what's going on. I'm so happy that they've seen the light and we're back to watching 2D versions of new releases.

3D would always be a no-go in my household. My wife can't view them and attempting to do so just gives her migraines. Even in the theater, it is a problem.

GOOD RIDDANCE!  Was such a waste. Of the TV's in my home the only one I would have ever considered 3D on would have been my projector.  I have a 3D Plasma but I sit 15 feet away from it. I bought it for the picture quality and have never used the 3d, don't even have glasses for it.
