Emby Noob. Don't judge.

Hi guys. Recently built an unRaid box and moved from Plex to Emby. Loving it thus far. However I'm having a few issues. I noticed that all of my files are direct streaming instead of direct playing. And I've tried any amount of combinations of different paths and can't seem to get it to work. My movie files are in a share at /mnt/user/movies and tv shows are at /mnt/user/tv shows. The server address is 192.168.1.23 and the server is named tower. Would my path substitution for movies be /mnt/user/movies to \\tower\Movies? And the same for tv shows but subbing in Tv Shows for movies?

 

Also my library update on my NUC in Kodi v16 can be quite slow. For example if I'm watching a movie in the sitting room and decide to finish it in the bedroom sometimes it can take 3 or 4 minutes for it to update before I can resume my movie(that's it the progress is synced at all, can be hit or miss) I have Emby.kodi.sync.queue installed on the server and fast startup checked in the kodi options. Is there anything here you can see that I'm doing wrong?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really dislike Plex and don't want to venture back. Cheers!

I got that but that doesn't mean he's only using Kodi.

To answer your question. Path substitution allows the server path to be converted to a path that the client device is able to reach. I would take a look at the bottom of this wiki page where it goes over some examples:

I'm using the Kodi(Jarvis) addon on both my windows 10 machines. Cheers will have another go after work.
