leb0rtran 0 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi, I installed emby and let it scan my tv shows. But I noticed that the metadata of all seasons is missing (the Series and Episode metadata is correct) I checked the serverconfig -> metadata for the type seasons (I hope that's the correct english term, in German it "Staffeln") and there is only "TheMovieDB" and "AniDB" (I downloaded the plugin) for metadata. For image sources the "TheTVDB" scraper is present. Is this normal (shouldn't there be "TheTVDB" also for metadata)? How can I automatically download the metadata for seasons? Thanks for your help.
Luke 42083 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi, welcome. Last i checked, tvdb did not have any season metadata. What you can do is enable MovieDb. It has pretty good season info.
leb0rtran 0 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Hi, I have the "TheMovieDB" plugin enabled for seasons, but it couldnt find any season information (not automatically and not by manual searching). My folder structure is:Series\Series.Sxx.Quality.Language...\Series.SxxExx.Quality.Language...\something.SxxExx.something For Example: 24\24.S01.German.720p.HDTV...\24.S01E01.German.720p.HDTV...\24.s01e01.foobar.avi Is the folder name used for searching? Or are the season metadata loaded with the informations from the episodes (as kodi does it)
Luke 42083 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 no that should be fine. try refreshing at the series level from the detail screen
leb0rtran 0 Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 I deleted my whole tv library and set up a test library with only 4 series. Here are my settings: * series * season * episode It scans all series correctly, but not the seasons and episodes. If I refresh it on season level the episodes are scanned correctly (it seems to prefer existing images in the episode directory over remote images) What settings do I miss? This was after a complete fresh scan!
Luke 42083 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 what is the before and after difference, because the screenshots look the same at first glance. when you added the library was there pre-existing nfo?
leb0rtran 0 Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) The differences are the episode names In the first picture emby took the filenames, in the second one the real episode names (from thetvdv I guess) At the first scan the pictures where downloaded from the tvdb correctly (except of a few like E3, E7 E9 where local ones exist in the episode folder and are preferred by emby (what I also don't want)), but the metadata like the episode names are not downloaded. After I manually refresh it on season level the metadata of the episodes is downloaded, but not the metadata of the seasons But should't the correct metadata of episodes be downloaded automatically (without manual refresh)? But should't the correct metadata of seasons be downloaded at all? Is there an option to prefer remote images over local ones? Are my option correct? Are there other important options? Or isn't emby able to work with my file structure? (example dir\file: ...\serien\Frasier\Frasier.S11.German.DL.FS.DVDRiP.x264-RegeLRechT\Frasier.S11E03.Ein.Freund.ein.guter.Freund.German.DL.FS.DVDRiP.x264-RegeLRechT\regelrecht-frasier.s11e03.480p.mkv) Edited March 5, 2016 by leb0rtran

Luke 42083 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 as for preferring remote metadata over local, i would just delete your local metadata if that's what you want. almost nobody wants to do that, and for us to add an option like that is probably going to do more harm than good.
leb0rtran 0 Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 no, I deleted the whole TV library (and checked if it was deleted) There is no existing info or metadata (only the .nfo file from the release which should not contain readable metadata for emby and in some folders there is a .jpg file) Deleting anything or changing folder structure is not an option for me
