virtualtinker 8 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Emby version: 3.0.5888.0 When adding a new game and refreshing the media or going into the metadata manager and doing a full refresh directly, the metadata is not being properly scraped for the game. See the attached log with debugging enabled. In it, I added a game, manually kicked off a media refresh, then followed with a full refresh of the game itself via the metadata manager. In this case, the game is Legacy of the Wizard, so you should be able to do a search for that specifically. In looking at the log, it's also flooded with other exceptions regarding reading json files. No idea if that could be related in any way to the metadata issue. Anyway, let me know if there's any other information I can provide. Thanks. server-63592126859.txt
Luke 42077 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 there's no gamebrowser-related errors here, in fact the game refresh that was performed completed without errors. i think someone just needs to look at the plugin and see if there's anything that needs to be updated. i would love to do it, but it will probably happen faster if a community member can help out with it.
Redshirt 1487 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Mark (Redshirt) left the project? It's complicated. Suffice it to say I'll never touch the GameBrowser source again. 1
Abobader 3464 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 You always doing great buddy, many thanks for all the hard work you did, well done.
virtualtinker 8 Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 So if Red is no longer involved with Gamebrowser, who else is knowledgeable enough that might be able to help me out here. I know you said that it completed without errors, but the only thing downloaded was a screenshot and an image of the cartridge;no metadata or other images. So something directly or indirectly is not right. I'll provide whatever time and further info I can, but need someone knowledgeable to steer me in what to provide or test further.
virtualtinker 8 Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 I ended up figuring out the issue myself. The scraping was not doing a good enough job of identifying the game; once I used identify and specifically chose the game, the metadata was pulled fine. I do have to question how good the scraper is at identifying the game on its own though. As an example, I had Final Fantasy IX as a game, and I had to use identify to explicitly choose it. I mean, how hard should it be to identify Final Fantasy IX from such an explicit name? So this brings me to my next ask. I don't know what happened that Red is no longer involved with the Gamebrowser project, but if the plugin is considered supported inside Emby, someone really should be stepping up to fill that knowledge gap. Luke, if this is something that you either don't have the time for, or isn't an interest in, I'd suggest asking your current volunteer dev community if anyone could begin to pick it up.
Luke 42077 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 The GameBrowser plugin has been updated with a new configuration screen to match the look and feel of the rest of Emby Server. I think you'll find it much more enjoyable to use and configure now. We are looking for contributors who might be interested in helping with other GameBrowser development, so if that's something you'd like to help out with then please let us know. Thanks !
