iv-tecman 2 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Migrated from Plex to Emby and am finding the transcoding from my media server to my DLNA Sony TV or my Chromecast way better. I also like the box set plug in as its helped me organise my media so much better. However, one issue I am having, whilst testing a bunch of media, I have a load of media that is now partly watched, and so my resume now feed is rather cluttered - its looking a little messy. Now with Plex this was easy to resolve as I could just reset the media by selecting watched or not watched, and it would reset the count. How do I do this with Emby? Also, the Chromecast casting from Andriod is fantastic other then the cast to chromecast device listings can be a little slow to populate, and also the filters - once I select a filter to say allow my daughter to see only animation movies, I can't close the screen - its a white overlay screen that I cannot see a close button for. So filters for me via Android are not working. Other then this, I'm getting on very well with Emby, where Emby really outclasses Plex is with Chromecast Audio. DTS audio via Plex /Chromecast isn't possible, in fact Plex and Chromecase audio 99% of the time ends up with just sub and left right, Emby - wonderful full 5.1 sound and very punchy and clear. Also the Transcoding is way better for media I need to transcode, the picture is a much higher quality, the bit rate is much better. Plex was dreadful with downgrading the bitrate to maintain a stutter free playback experience. I look forward to seeing future updates on the project, and happy to have migrated across. I once thought Plex was the be all and end all of media across so many devices - as Kodi was so limited for casting and playback across other devices but Emby is a serious challenger to Plex. Hopefully you guys get a dedicated opera TV app out there, as Plex still works directly on my Sony TV via Opera whereas Emby doesn't. However due to the almost flawless chromecast support, well haven't missed the opera TV app anyhow, but still nice to have the option. Well done team, you've snagged a Plex user to Emby. Angelblue05 4132 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Welcome! For the resume situation, in the emby webclient, just mouseover the item, you can click the checkmark to mark as watched, click it another time to mark as unwatched. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I've just done this, that was easy. Just a case of working out how a new system works, thank you. Another great feature I've now found that is better then plex, is the ability to edit my library from my phone and the changes are sent back to the server. Very handy, just need to work out how to setup accounts for the family so they don't change any media posters etc.. Just a shame I need to now fork out another $40 for a years pass when I did this for plex only a few months ago. Teach me a lesson to better research other products before paying out for year long subs. Hopefully many happy times ahead for media viewing for me and the family.

iv-tecman 2 Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Hi, welcome, thanks for the kind words ! You're welcome, I like to give positive feedback as so few do so, everyone is eager to complain when its not as they expect but not so many are keen to congratulate when it works as they want it to. I went looking for a solution as to why my Plex media server was not sending 5.1 audio via Chromecast to my AMP, I tried many fixes, none worked, I then came across Emby from another site that had a Kodi vs Plex , so I tried Emby and the minute I cast my first media file (a 32GB BD REMUX) it played flawless with full 5.1 audio and impressive video quality and zero stutter - something Plex via Chromecast has failed to do since owning a chromecast for around 6 weeks. So 6 weeks of tinkering and updating for Plex and failed to get 5.1 stutter free playback via chromecast for DTS encoded REMUX BD to an hour to set-up Emby and watch an entire movie with no issues other then the chromecast took a little longer to appear in device listings - yeah, I think kind words are justified. I'm going to purchase a years pass. You guys deserve the tiny yearly fee. And like I said look forward to all the updates and progression this media app will be getting. 1
