Stand alone question

I was looking at me do a browser classic and I use to use media browser 2.6 stand alone. I want to know can I get me do a browser classic as a stand alone for my pc without the server part of it?I just want the stand alone to watch movies of my hard drive.

You need the server part. It actually replaces the server embedded in the "stand alone" version you used before. You can run the server behind the scenes on the same machine. Install it, point it to your media and is sits there in the background doing its thing. You'll never even notice it. Then install Emby for Media Center and it will be almost like it was before. Just modern and cooler.

If your only goal is watching movies from your local drive and you don't care about a browsing UI you can just download a player like MPC-HC.  Emby can add a nice UI on top of that experience, whether the movies are local or not, but it's not necessary if your only goal is playback.
