Lawrage 13 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Hey all, I want to be able to browse and play my library on my iPhone while not at home on my network. I have setup the Connect thing and can see the server on my phone but I just get "We are unable to connect to the selected server right now". I think it is to do with port forwarding stuff on the router. My question on that is I have another app that I use as an interim (until Emby implements the download feature to my phone) called Air Video HD, this allow me to access my media on my phone with no manual port forwarding done. Is there any way Emby could add in whatever magic is done behind the scenes so we dont need to do this manually as well? Not sure if this should be a feature request.

Port forwarding is quite simple to do and I believe they give you instructions on how to do it through their wiki page. Or you can Google your router for Port Forwarding instructions. Toys

Actually, if your router supports UPNP and inside your Emby it has "Advanced > Hosting > Enable automatic port mapping" activated... it will open the ports automatically as needed, and close them when not necessary.
Lawrage 13 Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 I think this is what I was looking for, will give it a test tonight. Luke 42078 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 It's not guaranteed to work with every router model though. If it doesn't work for yours, then you'll need to configure port forwarding manually. If that happens, you should check out our Connectivity wiki.
mcpllabelle 8 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Also, don't forget to set a static IP once you complete the Port Forwarding. If you don't it'll work fine until your lease expires and you will have to port forward again.
