tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Hi all, Having had recent issues with mpaa ratings being completely screwed up reputedly down to using xml not nfo files - I have no choice but to try to rebuild my library from scratch. As a long time user I have not had a clean install for some time and obviously things have changed over the development time. If I am rebuilding from scratch it would be good to catch everything up to the latest methods. I do not use Emby for metadata scraping as I want to add other items that are currently (and based on the response to previous requests not likely to be) so I want to ensure my external metadata provider is at least saving things in the way that is compatible with Emby so I can if required edit things in Emby and it passes through. Note although I use a 3rd party scraper I have downloads turned on in Emby to fill in the blanks. Any tips on ... nfo vs xml - I am going to nfo anyway but have not confidence it will resolve the issues I am seeing. location of Imagesbyname and the place to set a custom location. Particularly relevant for Cast and Crew and Studio images as I want this to be different to movie metadata and images which I want to be stored in movie folders. Not sure hwo much of this has changed but any tips appreciated.
Luke 42080 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Even though you're turning on emby internet metadata, when you supply your own metadata, that's what we go with. in order to have emby search for metadata you're going to need to supplement with manual refreshes. to customize imagesbyname, just set your desired metadata path under metadata -> advanced.
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Cheers Luke... Yep I do manual refresh for missing data and typically use it for missing images. So if I set a path under Metadata -> advanced that will only be used for people, studio etc not movie data and images ?
Luke 42080 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 no, it is used for more than just people now.
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 To be honest - I would prefer to use Emby for all but there are two types of data that I use that are missing - Collection Number - used elsewhere to track who has borrowed what disk. MPAA Description - useful in conjunction with Parental control so I can decide to override viewing based on the description. Rating is good but knowing why helps make it easy to make an ad-hoc judgement for any one viewing for kids of different ages. I know these probably have limited applicability to everybody as I am sure others have different data and uses. Is there anyway to add an additional data section to the UI and saver so it can be stroed and editing inside Emby ? Fingers crossed nfo fixes the issue but not convinced yet. Thanks again.
Luke 42080 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 we do support fetching the collection number
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Is the Movie nfo data and images stored in this custom location or in the movie folder ? If I don't set it where are people , studio etc images and data stored ?
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Where is the collection number handled display ? I've never found it
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) for clarifiaction it is my collection number not any of the providers and relates to its number in my total collection not any boxset type of id. Edited February 21, 2016 by tmb4016
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 ok - after starting library rebuild and everything going ok. Suddenly as per previous experience films went missing for parental control users due to mpaa description text appearing in mpaa rating section. Final chance for emby.... complete uninstall, clean and will try a new install with no library or previous history.
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 all xml files already gone. With regard to library rebuild - I removed all libraries and cleaned all xml from the directories. Then gradually started to add new folders to new libraries with newly generated nfo file into the emby system. All starts off ok but then all of a sudden it starts to read mpaa description instead of rating... I appreciate your skepticism and nobody else has responded so it must be local to me but like it or not it is a real event. I am not an idiot... (although getting to the point of behaving like one with my setup and throwing it out of the window. ) Just trying to watch some films/movies. At the moment it is easier to go and find the disk from two flights up than try to use Emby. Somewhat defeats the object !
Luke 42080 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 can you provide a sample nfo from a movie you imported? can you try importing a new movie without pre-existing nfo? thanks.
Luke 42080 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Nevermind, my apologies. I found the problem. The fix will be in the dev branch later today and the beta branch sometimes tomorrow.
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Thanks for the reply... I have uninstalled emby and removed the application so no cannot try a new import. I have a newly created nfo file that worked initially but then went pear-shaped. This is the same as the xml behaviour though. xml and nfo all look correct and initally work then emby starts to display description not rating even though nfo file has not changed - validated with date stamp and also data. Hence my reasoning it is down to my emby install not the local metadata. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=8582349D8B8DAC4E!35794&authkey=!AF1xRF3GDLdQ47M&ithint=file%2cnfo
tmb4016 93 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Posts crossed ... Good to know there is an explanation. Will still do a new install now as I am so far along. A pain but probably due for a refresh anyway. Thanks for you efforts and perseverance.
Luke 42080 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 The fix for this is on the beta branch now.
dethknite 45 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 for clarifiaction it is my collection number not any of the providers and relates to its number in my total collection not any boxset type of id. You could always store the collection number (or any extra data) in the Tags section. Example: cn-001234 I use tags for added granularity for parental ratings... works great... (a CSM11 tag means Common Sense Media 11 rated, and on users that cannot view that 10yr olds, 9yr olds, etc accounts, I add the CSM18, CMS17, .... CSM11 tags in the filter and they do not show, even if they are PG). Tags are awesome...
tmb4016 93 Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks for the info - I can see this might work for more parental control information if I standardise it. I just want to use the Mpaa Description which is easy to scrap. I agree though TAGS are great. Just curious have you tried using the CustomRating in place of your tags ? I was planning on trying it but just not got around to it yet. For Collection number it would just give a me a list of numerical tags with one movie against each tag and would make navigating the list of tags for other purposes a bit pain. Just to reiterate the Collection number is a unique number in my library nothing to do with Boxset items. My se of it stems from when I used My Movies which allowed me to track who I had loaned disks to and when. I will have to review how critical this is to me going forward. Just keen to get db up and running again. So hopefully Luke has fixed the issue for mpaa ratings/Descriptions in 3.0.5885 as the issue still seemed to be there is 3.0.5884. Fingers crossed.
