Emby transcodes aac files to opus

Hi

 

I'm running version 3.0.5870.0 on FreeBSD 10.2.  I'm trying to play my aac-files, but Emby transcodes them to opus for some reason.

Why is it transcoded at all? Doesn't all modern browsers support aac?

 

This happens with all browsers i've tried so far : Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera.

We query the browser for supported formats. Try a different browser and see if it makes a difference.

Are the supported formats logged somewhere? In the console or in the server?

 

Well, there's Safari I could try, but I think one of those 4 I've tried should work.

ah it's the m4a container. if you have an actual aac file see if that works.

I drag'n'dropped the file into Opera and Chrome and they both played it fine.

So, what's the conclusion? Do I have something wrong with my setup? Or is Emby unable to play aac audio from m4a container without transcoding?
