Movie Backdrops Issue

Just started using emby and despite some annoying issues with identify (took me ages to get the correct House of Cards picked up) I've been very impressed and happy with the whole set up but now I've run into a weird issue. I've added my movies and it's downloaded the posters and backdrops but for some reason it's added all the backdrops to all the movies. So now when I go to edit images the backdrops bit has over 600 images per film making it impossible to get the corrects one set per film. Is there a way to clear all the movie related images so I can just sort them out a film at a time? I don't fancy sitting here manually deleting over 600 images!

Thanks in advance.

You can set the maximum number of backdrops in the Server Console under Metadata -> Services. Expand Images at the bottom.

The easiest way to delete a large number of backdrops is to visit the directory where they are stored and delete them via the OS. If you store your metadata with your media (Metadata Basics), they will be easy to find. If you store your metadata centrally, you're probably better off just deleting the Emby-Server metadata folder completely and starting over.

To help with identifying use the supported naming schemes listed in the Wiki. For television shows, it works best if you add the YEAR of the first season in parenthesis after the series name on the folder.

Thanks. I've managed to get rid of them all now. The maximum was set to 1 but clearly that wasn't the case. I've put it to 5 and I'll see if it still ignores that.

Now that I've got rid of all the images, is there a way to make it auto scan for them again or is it a case of adding them back per film manually now?

Choose Metadata Manager off the dropdown menu and then do a Refresh on the library. Should refresh all the contents inside of it.

Cheers, that's worked and it's stopping at 5 per film now. Perfect, thanks.

Ok, just tested and couldn't reproduce. the code is definitely checking the limit. the question is whether somehow some really high value got into your configuration or not. is it possible you may have at some point customized the metadata settings for movies and entered a really high backdrop limit?

No, I didn't even know that setting was there until Koleckai mentioned it, when I did it was set to 1 already. I had Kodi manage my stuff before, so it had downloaded all the images like posters, fan art etc to it's own folders within my media folders, is there a chance emby found them and just listed them all? I deleted those folders to get back to 0 images showing in emby. Then when I told it to refresh it did and stopped at 5 backdrops per film as well as grabbing the posters and that again.

A question I have now is, can I move the images to a separate folder? At the moment all the images are mixed in with my media files, could I just make a folder in there, name it images and put them all in there and emby would still use them or would it download them again thinking they were missing?

Emby will read the folders created by Kodi. It is designed to be compatible with the other system.
