tired dad 28 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Nevermind. Clearly patience is not my virtue How long did you wait? Mine has been saying this: "Please wait while your Emby Server database is upgraded. 45.03% complete." for 21 hours now (to be fair, form 21 to 13 hours ago, it was at 45.00%, so I guess that's progress?)
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 How long did you wait? I wouldn't think it would take that long but everyones setup is different. Could you post your server log.
Jack Burton 98 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Wow mine definitely didn't take that long. I had it installed and it was stuck on the Emby load screen with the green bar roughly 95% full for about 3 hours. Then my pc froze cause I messed around a bit so had to do a hard reset. After reset, Emby loaded completely. I opened the server and it said something like "upgrading your server, 0.00% complete". That took about an hour or so. 21 hours seems like a really long time
danswan 13 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Getting the same thing here with the latest beta 3.0.5923.0. After 10 minutes it's up to 1.58%. No big deal, I'll let it run through. Server log attached. server-63595224824.txt Edited April 2, 2016 by danswan
Luke 42077 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Yes this database upgrade is very minor compared to the previous one, but it's what I'm going to do from now on when there are database changes, no matter how small they are, instead of letting it happen gradually/automatically in the background. What we're running into is that during the in-between time before the background upgrade has completed, users are going to report various things not working. In this case, it's really minor, related to sort orders, and only affects a few people under certain conditions. But it is the only way to prevent those people from thinking that something is wrong and coming in here and reporting problems.
danswan 13 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Tbf I run as a service and normally use the powershell script someone posted elsewhere to update in the middle of the night. Just saw there was an updated version and did it manually this time. Seems to have picked up a bit, up to 21% now
JohnnyM 40 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Wow that took about 5 hours for a "very minor upgrade".
Luke 42077 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Well it has to update every single record in the database. It's minor in the sense that it's only one small thing that is being updated.
jellovator 14 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Mines been upgrading the database for three hours and it's on 36.36% Guess I'll be spending the rest of the night playing games
spootdev 56 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Well it has to update every single record in the database. It's minor in the sense that it's only one small thing that is being updated. Are you commiting after every record or sumthing?
pir8radio 1312 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Can you post somewhere that a release will require an update? Mine took 5 hours, and I did it on a weekend when everyone is trying to use emby.. If we know ahead of time that a database update is required, we can update the server late at night or early morning. I do not have my updates set to automatically install... I guess i could set to auto and set an update time in scheduled task... But, ya know... Info is good anyway..
Starlionblue 82 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) Database upgrade running for four hours so far. Stuck on "45.00%" since the first time I checked it. Looked at the logs and it just seems like the same thing repeated endlessly. Is this the upgrade running? Logs here. Edited April 5, 2016 by Starlionblue
