People details and external id all missing after update to Version 3.0.5879.0

Just noticed all the people details and ids are missing after update last week. Do I really have to remove all my movies and re-add them?  I was able to get the people for one movie back by re-identifying the movie, but that pretty tedious for 300+ movies.

Is there a rescan/force of the library?

Would attach logs, but there are more than 10 since the update.

It still does show all the other items that person is in, but the picture and their external IDs are gone. The last time it was that it didn't have the correct x-ref between items for some/most people, so this is a different issue.

The server dashboard displays the location of metadata under the Paths collapsible. Expand it. The path to your people folder should be that path + "/People".

Is that where your people folder is? if not then try moving it there.

Thanks for the reply, Server Dashboard doesn't have a paths collaspible.   On the left the is

Server

Devices

Users

Library

Metadata

Playback

Sync

Auto-Organize

DLNA

Live TV

Notifications

Plugins

Advanced

Scheduled Tasks

Help.

Looked under Library, and Metadata and Advanced.

In Metadata->Advanced, in the webinterface the Metadata path is blank, since the message below says "Custom Path"

If I invoke the Metadata Manager I only have metadata collaspibles for

Camera Uploads

Collections

Movies

Playlists

TV SHows

I didn't move anything around for the record.

server dashboard meaning the very front page

Sorry was blind.  See the paths collapsible now. People is not listed in that when I expand it.

Right please see instructions in post #3 again.

Should I actually look to see if there is a folder called people as a sub-directory of the metadata path in the filesystem?  Why have a web interface If i need to maintain this via the filesystem manually?

Where was the people folder stored before, so I can find it.  Or do I have to make hidden files visible and do a search on the whole C drive for "People"?

Posted

i'm not suggesting you have to manage the folders directly, i'm just asking questions trying to gather information.

OK where in the web interface can I find the people path. It's not on the expanded Paths collapsible on the front server dashboard.  Under paths it only lists

Cache

Logs

Metadata

Transcoding temporary files

The Metadata doesn't have any sub items.

On the 1 movie I re-identified if I edit the 1st person, I can see the metadatapath for him

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\metadata\People\J\Joseph Gordon-Levitt

on the paths on the dashboard Metadata is

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\metadata

which looks the be the same root?  But perhaps that's because It created a new People folder there when it fetched and refreshed all the metadata for the movie???

Does this folder exist?

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\data\metadata

Still need to know were the old People folder would be and how to tell.

On one the missing people if I edit them it says the path is

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\metadata\People\F\F. Murray Abraham

which is the same as the one after the re-identify up to the "Letter"

So both show the same path as far as it seems it should

Posted

Yes it does and there is a People folder in it There are also A-Z single letter folders in People, but most of those letter folders have only a few entries. Based on the number of movies I have there should be lots and lots.  For those that are there only the xml file is present except for the one movie I just re-identified  For those few people there are both the xml and a picture.

Is there any way to force a rebuild without manually hitting each movie?

Why would your db update process delete the old information? Why not convert it?

Does this folder exist?

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\ImagesByName\People

Yes and seems to be very well populated

Posted

ok, move that to

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\metadata\People

Done.  And restarted the server.  No change.  Still when I look at a movie I don't have any details or pictures for people.

OK I guess I'm going to have to hit with the big hammer.  I will just have remove all my movie folders out of the library and then add them back in.  Something you might want to add as a suggestion to the post-update process.  Remove all media and re-add.

Posted

Wow, that didn't work either.  I removed all my movie folders from the library restarted the server and re-added them.  Still broken. Guess I'll have to try removing the files in each folder other than the movie itself and then re-adding.

Feature Request:  Add a button to the advanced section of the dash to  re-identify /  redownload / rebuild all metadata for all content.

Ended up using the multi-select to select 100 at a time and then choosing refresh.  That's slowly rebuilding the people information.

That should have worked, but requires running the People Refresh scheduled task.
