Audio Distortion issue

Recommended Posts

I am having issues with the audio sounding like it is being amplified when playing back on either the Roku or my Windows 8 client. Basically it sounds like the speakers are blown out even at really low volumes. When playing back the same media (either directly on my computer, or using Media Browser v2 through my Xbox 360) without using Media Browser 3 the audio sounds normal without any distortion. As part of the playback process, is the audio stream being amplified? For reference my versions of MB, clients, and specifics on the playback files are below.

Media Browser Server Version 3.0.5099.2102

Roku Version 1.16.5

Windows 8 Client Version 1.1.1.6

Traditionally when you convert from a 6 channel source to the 2 channel the audio is very very low and requires a volume increase so yes in these circumstances we do increase the audio.

Is there any way for me to configure how much the volume is being increased? When I encode the audio for these videos I am already increasing the volume so that would explain why it sounds bad.

Not at this time. But you can always put in a feature request and see how much traction it gains.

"Control volume increase when converting from 6 to 2 chan"

Keep in mind though even if accepted it will not find it's way into the server for some time.
