fredg89 8 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I wanted to know if there is an easy way to update the IP address of the server in client devices remotely. The issue is that I have a DDNS but it seems that when you use DDNS then EmbyConnect doesn't work and you have to create local accounts for each user. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I want to make it to where whenever my IP changes, that the client ip's update but I want to use the EmbyConnect instead of creating local accounts on my server....If that makes sense.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) DDNS and Emby Connect are two different things. DDNS is a direct connection to your server with local account login. And Emby Connect allows access to your server via a Forum\Connect username linked to a local user account on your server. Edited February 3, 2016 by Happy2Play

Let me rephrase the question...it seems that if a user connects with DDNS, it does not all the guest users to use their accounts. Mybad I should be asking what's the best way to connect user's to my server when my IP might change.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Your ddns service should be updating your IP. Or are you connecting via IP

Is that correct? Yes, DDNS access requires local accounts. If you want to use guest account then have them access via http://app.emby.media or https://app.emby.media not DDNS. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Guests 1
