haeffnkr 3 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Please let me know how to resolve. If this is a setting somewhere please let me know. When I use the emby ATV app all is fine... when I switch to live tv - the screen is too big and the left side is cut off (maybe right side too?) Not a problem when I go to the Guide on my android phone, so it seems to be related to the ATV app only. Redshirt 1487 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 It appears to be overscan. The Fire TV has a calibrate display function in the Display & Sounds category of the settings. Once you've used it to calibrate the display then that should go away.
haeffnkr 3 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 There is no calibrate option that I can find on the Nexus Player, I checked the TV and there is nothing under that setup and there is nothing under the emby app. Not sure what else to try? Bug in the app? thanks for your help haeffnkr
Redshirt 1487 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 My bad, I saw ATV and my brain thought Fire TV (FTV).
ebr 16169 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Yeah, the Fire TV has overscan settings but the NP does not. You will need to check the options in your TV. Somewhere in there you can adjust for it. If not specifically, then by setting a particular display mode such as "just".

I have the wide, zoom and standard settings that is all. Other options?
ebr 16169 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Start with standard and then see if you can find any advanced settings for this type of thing. What kind of TV is it? Most of them have separate settings per input.
ebr 16169 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 At this time, you will have to find a way to adjust it at the TV level. In most of the screens we provide some padding around the edge so this isn't an issue. But, the live TV guide needs every pixel it can get so I'm not willing to give up this information space for it when it will only be an issue in a very small number of situations. All display systems should have the ability to adjust for it somehow.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I couldn't fix it on my bedroom tv, a 2007ish Samsung. I had to swap the np and the ftv as the ftv has overscan settings, np now on a newer Samsung tv with justfit or whatever it's called

Why do I or should I have to adjust the TV when any the Roku application/screen or any other program on the Android Nexus player displays just fine on this TV. Including other Emby screens display fine. How the big majority of the apps play fine but just one screen on one application does not but it is a TV problem? Please help me understand the logic behind this? thanks for your help haeffnkr Edited February 5, 2016 by haeffnkr

As ebr has already said. I spent several months trying to fix it, used some other dodgy android apps that should allow the screen to be resized but nothing worked

My point is, to make this not happen would mean taking functionality (display of information) away from 98% of the people due to issues with 2%. Now, when you are a part of that 2%, I understand that sucks but that is just not a cost/benefit I want to employ. IMO not having overscan adjustment at the device level is a fault of the hardware (the NP). The Fire TV does have this ability as do most modern TVs.
haeffnkr 3 Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Wow Wow Wow Wow OK I guess that make sense then. thanks for your help Haeffnkr
