gillmacca 17 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I am trying to get all my music tagged correctly with Picard, and was wondering if there are any settings I should change/turn on, so that most, if not all fields are filled in. Also, I have tried it with 1 album so far, and the tag information at the bottom of the screen say (different across 6 items), under original and new value. Do I have to enter the details manually, or can I get/tell Picard to use one of the items? Many thanks for your help
vmcosco 24 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) I use Picard religiously to tag my music. A few settings I use: Under Options/Metadata, I have all boxes checked. I like the folksonomy tags from Last.fm as my genre Under Options/Metadata, I set preferred release formats to CD and Digital media Under Options/Tags, I have all five of the top boxes checked. The "Preserve timestamps" one is important if you don't want the timeline that your albums were added in to be disrupted. Under Options/Coverart, I have all of the top boxes checked and ONLY fanart.tv (by far has the best quality images). If art is not found for an album I go back into options and select Cover Art Archive and re-scan Options/File Naming, set as needed Under Options/Advanced/Scripting, I added the following script: $set(date,%originaldate%) This means that the release of the original release will be used. I like sorting my music by release date. So, I want The Beatles White Album to show the original release date, NOT when the CD version was released. You will find that many of the lines of the original value and new value are different. All songs have the different Titles, Track Numbers, Lengths, etc. I didn't make any manual changes to the thousands of albums I ran. Once the lookup is done, just click save and you should be all set. Edited February 2, 2016 by vmcosco 1
