manny 14 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'm thinking of building a HTPC for a property I only really visit once a week. I don't have internet at the property and I'm unlikely to sign up for any as I'm hardly there. Anyway, I was thinking of putting MB3 on the new build but understand the themes may dial home periodically (for licensing reasons) and that my MB3 setup will then simply stop. Is this the case and would I be wasting my time setting up MB3? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 the server will be fine. i'm not sure about mbc
ebr 16169 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Well, actually, this will be a bit of a problem for validating registered content. You don't need a constant connection, but you do need to be able to validate at least once a month. You will also get timeouts trying to check for updates and things like that. This shouldn't affect the operation of the server though. MBC should be fine except for the validation thing.
manny 14 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 OK, thanks for the reply. Will suck it and see in the New Year. Cheers for the replies.
pagali 62 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 The obvious solution is to keep a very simple installation with a free skin like Chocolate, and do without the fancy addons that require validation.
