Live TV - Transcoding HLS (H264/AAC)

Recommended Posts

hi guys. a bit of a question. got emby installed on my server with live tv setup, epg etc. but every channel trancodes but the streams are hls (h264/aac) - these are supposed to direct play/stream as per the documentation. I have tried a number of different devices and all the same. you guys got any ideas?

i think i posted in the wrong category previously.

I have the same problem - now my live TV gets transcoded - Im sure that it used to be stream as streamcopy. Im using a chormecast.

Here is what my settop box from my provider support :

-------------------------------

MPEG-2 (SD and HD): Transport stream - PAT, PMT, video and audio streams, constant and variable bit rate, 2-25 Mbps, up to MP@HL 1080i@60 fps

H.264 (SD and HD): PAT, PMT, video and audio streams, up to 20 Mbps, up to HP@L4.1 (1080i@60 fps) High Definition video: 1280x720@50 or 60 fps (progressive scan) 1920x1080@50 or 60 fps (interlaced scan)

Streaming Audio Audio Types: MPEG (Layer 1, 2, 3), PCM, AC3, AAC

-------------------------------

So .ts H.264 720p50 should be play able with just streamcopy (.ts container to .mp4).

.ts H.264 1080i50 just need deinterlace + streamcopy (.ts container to .mp4), yadif=0 should do it I think

This will free up a lot of load on my server!

I´m using dvblogic for my TV.

I am also seeing this problem.

When i run the ffmpeg command contained in the logs, I see the following error.

So, I'm guessing ffmpeg, thus emby, will not support my needs.  True?

Hard to imagine my DVR's raw OTA transport stream is not supported.  Kodi plays it just fine.

Any thoughts?  Maybe a custom switch/option required by ffmpeg in this case?

TIA

@@punk4funk that is easily resolved with a change to our encoding command line. it will be in the next release, thanks.

Confirmed this.

When I remove the -f 'tp' option from the command, the transcoding works fine.

Plus, when I rename my DVR's file extension to 'ts', emby android client works great.

Looking forward to next release.

Thanks for speedy response.
