Emby cannot see my TV player through my phone

As mentioned above, however the server can see my chromecast but I get no tv as a player option (when it's worked perfectly well in the past), only the phone as a device. This is the second night in a row when I've gone to use it and get this problem.

 

I've reinstalled the app now twice and still occurs. Is there a sequence I'm getting wrong to get this thing to work simply? Here's what I assumed was the correct sequence.

 

1. turn on server.

2. turn on CC on phone and select emby icon

3. start CCasting with icon

4. select player (in this case TV) on Phone menu (except it only sees "my device")

5. select CC channel on tv

6. (try to) Watch.

 

This is becoming a chore to get this to work regularly. I'm at my wit's end.

OK, on a whim I restarted my phone and it can now see the TV.

 

So as a secondary question why is this necessary?

Hi, on the phone are you using the emby android app, the iOS app, or the emby web client?

Ok, you should be able to do everything in the Emby app without using the CC app
