rms8 14 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) Hi. When I used MB2, I had no problem playing my TV series rips. All my DVD & BR rips are in their folder structure including TV series. So a typical TV series path would look like this on my Server : \\SERVER-PC\hdd-4\TV Shows HDD-4\Everybody Loves Raymond (Box Set)\Volume1\Disc1\VIDEO_TS MB2 had no problem playing the DVD or BR when it was like above but MBC just displays the "Disc1" as another layer, not actually playing the content inside. See sequence of events pics attached. Is it just a matter of renaming the folders so MBC doesn't get confused or is it that MBC can't cope with folder structure going that far?? THANKS. rms8 14 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 I thought I should mention that I can play a DVD that is only one folder deep, but when I try to play my DVD's that are a few folders deep (just TV episodes which would be more than 1 season long), that's when I run into that problem.
Luke 42077 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 There are some issues with folder rips that we're still hunting down, but i expect problems for you even once those are solved. I just noticed the wiki doesn't document our conventions for tv series folder rips, so i'll add them. I guess it just depends on how you want to handle them. If you want to treat them as movies, then your current structure is fine, although you may have to lock them so that the server doesn't try to fill them with metadata from themoviedb. but if you want them treated as tv, with tv series metadata then you're going to have to follow the structure.
Luke 42077 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Keep an eye on this issue, which is probably related: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/2827-unable-to-play-video-ts/ Although I have a feeling that once that's solved you'll still have issues due to it not following our supported structure for tv series rips. But let's just wait and see.
rms8 14 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) Since my TV Show rips are the whole Disc, I treat them as if they were movies folder wise. Each folder has metadata and images too. I know it can't utilize some of the awesome features for individual episodes but I don't feel like ripping any more disks to extract each episode (unless someone has a good method to which I could apply to the rips I already made). So knowing my TV Show folders should be treated just as if they were a movie folder, do you think it will work once you get the bug figured out? Thanks Luke, Rob Edited December 16, 2013 by rms8
