Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Hi, it's certainly possible for future updates. Thanks.
kidnappervan 4 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Was thesportsdb.org ever added? I can't find it in Plugins Catalog.

Suliamu 36 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) +1 on this also from me But it is not only about the metadataprovider. There should be generally a new category "Sports" for libraries where you can sort things by event. For example in MMA you have one Event which consists of several parts: Weigh-In, Pre-Prelims, Prelims, Main-Event, Press-Conference afterwards tvdb sorts only the Main-Event (as Movie). But also thesportsdb only sorts the Main-Event. It would be very good if it was possible to make in a Sports-Library somehow a structure which follows the chronological order of the Event inside the Event. For example: MMA (libraryfolder-category: Sports) - MMA Event Number 100 - MMA Event Number 100 - Part01 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 100 - Part02 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 100 - Part03 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 101 - MMA Event Number 101 - Part01 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 101 - Part02 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 101 - Part03 - 1080p.mkv - MMA Event Number 101 - Part04 - 1080p.mkv It is basically a structure which has Movies but with Episodes like for Shows/Series. I approximate this by adding the sub-events as extras and using the title sort metadata field to order them. It doesn't allow for fully sorted playback, but it can be used now. 1
Oracle 85 Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 @LukeAny update on this? What do we need to do to get this implemented? I know a lot of users use Emby to store sports/fight/wrestling media (myself included) and a large amount of the time I have to rely on TMDB or TVDB to scrape this metadata (almost always incorrectly!)
Luke 42077 Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 It’s certainly possible for future updates. Thanks. 2
TheSportsDBFan 3 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) Hi, Since sports videos are not easy in every system, I have been working on various tools over the last few months. This should help you all too: [Tool] - NFO Zip package generator Forum: https://www.thesportsdb.com/forum_topic.php?t=5973 Direct Link: https://tsdb.sem-one.de/ (will not always stay on this domain!) For Support, use Discort: Discord - TheDataDB And if there is a lot of demand, I will write you a scraper for Emby. I started where I left off 10 years ago, not much has happened since my first scraper in 2014. I hope to have now achieved more change for the next few years. Our Kodi scraper can also download artwork etc: https://www.thesportsdb.com/forum_topic.php?t=5971 Edited August 5, 2024 by TheSportsDBFan 1 2

It depends on their terms of use. If they're ok with pulling data from their website, then it's probably fine. The bigger question for this though is whether or not a TV library (and it's naming rules) are adequate for sports content.
kikinjo 281 Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 Since this was requested 10 years ago (almost), you have next 10 years to find out if TV Library is adequate

Luke 42077 Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 For those with sports, does your file naming and organization follow tv naming guidelines? Do you currently use the tv content type with it?

Do you currently use the tv content type with it? Mostly. I use calendar years as seasons, and then YYMMDDGG as the episode number. So s2025e24123103 is the third game played on December 31, 2024. I drop the year digits for sports where the season fits entirely within a single calendar year. For sports with distinct rounds, like the NFL, it's even easier: WWGG as the episode number. So s2024e0104 would be the fourth game of week 1.

Another would be to use date based naming without episode numbers. 1
brothom 177 Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 (edited) A @Lukementioned, sport events should probably be based by dates and probably cups. I've also checked a bunch of European matches, considering this seems to be a US initiative and those are also suprisingly accurate. Looking at thesportsdb.com structure it seems they figured out the most sensible formatting by themselves. An example: Soccer For home matches (https://www.thesportsdb.com/event/2192339-orlando-city-vs-new-york-city-fc) X:/Sports/Soccer/American Major League Soccer/2025/American Major League Soccer - y2025m07d17t001600 - Orlando City - New York City FC For out matches (https://www.thesportsdb.com/event/2192308-charlotte-fc-vs-orlando-city) X:/Sports/Soccer/American Major League Soccess/2025/American Major League Soccer - y2025m07d05t231500 - Charlotte FC - Orlando City Ice Hockey The above also seems to apply to other sport: https://www.thesportsdb.com/event/2250315-eisbären-berlin-vs-kolner X:/Sports/Ice Hockey/German DEL/2024-2025/German DEL - y2025m04d25t173000 Eisbaren Berlin - Kolner Lacrosse https://www.thesportsdb.com/event/2257685-buffalo-bandits-vs-saskatchewan-rush X:/Sports/Lacrosse/National Lacrosse League/2024-2025/National Lacrosse League - y2025m05d16t232300 - Buffalo Bandits - Saskatchewan Rush These are of course fully qualified to prevent any same-day matches and could be abbreviated to: X:/Sports/WhichSport/WhichLeague/WhichSeason/WhichLeague - y{year}m{month}d{date}t{time?} - Home vs Out Or maybe even just: X:/Sports/Lacrosse/National Lacrosse League - y2025m05d16 The filename itself provides enough information for the item to be found via the API (with date or even exact time matches, there's only 1 match that day). I couldn't find out if abbreviations works correctly via the API but if they do formatting could be cut down even further, but won't make the contents any more clear and only encourage users to "go wild": X:/Sports/NLL/NLL - y2025m05 Edited July 17, 2025 by brothom 1 1
