QwEmby 2 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Hi, I've been using Emby, mostly without incident, for years. As of today, emby won't connect to my server. I've rebooted/reshared everything. Reinstalled emby on my both rokus (Roku 3 / direct ethernet and Roku Stick/Wi-Fi) Today's log is attached. Any suggestions? server-63589137440.txt
Luke 42083 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Hi, how are you trying to connect from Roku? does it discover your server or do you enter the address manually? Or are you using Emby Connect with the pin feature? Thanks.
QwEmby 2 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 I'm connecting through the Emby app on Roku. It discovers my server but will not connect. I've tried to enter the address manually...no joy. "cannot connect to server" error
Luke 42083 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 What address are you entering? is it the same address as the one displayed on the front page of the server dashboard?
speechles 2055 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Have you rebooted the roku? If you have disregard. For testing, can you try the app below? https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=EmbyBlueNeon This app has its own registry space. It also has more error detection dialog prompts that will show up. If the blue neon app works, it is the corrupt registry space in the official roku app. The blue neon app has its own registry space because it uses my developer id. You can fix the problem by deleting all emby apps you have installed (the blue neon app can stay it has a different registry space). You must delete them all to have the registry space cleared. Once you do this reinstall all your emby apps again and they should work. I see the ssdp request in your logs sent by the server, but your roku never replies to them. This is indicative of a problem. Luke 42083 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 @@QwEmby, do you happen to have multiple emby roku channels installed, such as the public channel, the zip, and the private beta? if yes then try removing them all, then reinstalling the one you want. the apps are sharing the same storage space which might be causing the issue since roku only allows a small amount. thanks.

No, I just have one emby channel.
QwEmby 2 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 What address are you entering? is it the same address as the one displayed on the front page of the server dashboard? yes, same one. Roku sees my server just won't connect
Solution Luke 42083 Posted January 23, 2016 Solution Posted January 23, 2016 yes, same one. Roku sees my server just won't connect Ok. I would take a look at our wiki on connectivity: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity It has some troubleshooting steps you can try out. Please let us know at what point in these tests that you get stuck because that will help us identify where the issue it. Thanks. 1
QwEmby 2 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Resolved. Turned out it was an errant firewall setting screwing with things. 1
