Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if it was possible to force playback without transcoding ?

I Emby server on my Synology NAS and I play my videos on my Freebox (a box running on android TV).

I am local to a wired network.

Thanks for your help.

It depends what media you are streaming to your Freebox.

If the Freebox can natively play the media (ie .MP4, .avi or whatever) then no transcoding will occur.

Transcoding only occurs if the device is unable to natively play the media.

Or else how can the device play the media if it is unable to natively play it. Something would need to transcode it!

One other reason that transcoding occurs is if the playback device can't directly access the content.

Make sure that when you added your libraries that you either used UNC paths or path substitution.

Thanks guys

I tested with .avi, .TS, .mkv,...

Indeed, I think that I must look toward file access
