Hi,

I am having the exact same issue with a little twist.  All my media shows up fine except Recorded tv.  however one tv series within the folder structure shows all the episodes.  There is nothing different about this folder from the others and the location/naming convention is the same as follows:

c:\user\public\tv\show name (curious George)\Curious George_WENHDT_2013_12_16_15_00.wtv

52c72d60f3456_1.png

You can see that folder is the only one that has items.

I did delete the db files you mentioned above but nothing has changed.  I am also attaching the latest log.  Any ideas?

OK, so I have deleted the library.db file and the providerinfo.db file in the data directory. I have also installed the latest Dev version of MBC (3.0.105) and still none of my movies are showing.

Really love the interface of MBC (and so do my kids and wife), but if this isn't going to work then I will need to look elsewhere. I don't understand why it all worked so well in old mediabrowser and not in MB3.

For what it is worth, I attach an image of my data folder contents.

@@ebr - it looks like in this log there's a web socket crash at the end that is probably causing the crash. Also, there a lot of backdrop image downloading. If timeouts are an issue what something like a client-side backdrop limit per item? Then mbc is downloading 3 images instead of 20 and the number of requests will drop significantly.

@@pgb2014 - try disabling backdrops as a test to see if that reduces the timeouts

At this point there's a new server up so it's best to get that and then repeat all tests. Based on your logs it looks like your server is under fairly heavy load performing the library scan at the same time you're trying to use MBC. For most people this is normally ok and they can use their clients throughout the operation. But it would be a good test to wait and let the library scan finish before testing in MBC.

Just to re-iterate - update the server, let the startup scan finish, and then test mbc.

You people having this problem, you can try updating to the latest dev release of MBC (106) which will give you an advanced config panel that has the timeout on it.  Try playing with that value and see if you can make it work and still be reasonable in response.

The advanced config panel will only be there if you are logged in as an admin.

Hi ebr,

I have suffered from this issue, so I've installed as requested and so far it's working ok for me on the default timeout setting.

For me, it seems to be after a period of time that this issue would show up. Ie. it's like the server had gone to sleep while playing a movie (but it hadn't) and you'd go out and back in of MBC it would occur, or after a fresh start after being off overnight.

Once you then went in and out of MBC once or twice it was ok and everything shows up correctly.

I have three machines (two HTPC's running win 7 and 8.1 and a laptop running 8.1) and it occurred on them all. I have a movie section with about 800 movies and box set in it and this seemed to be the culprit as other smaller movie or TV sections would be ok.

NB. On the web GUI, Mb theatre or the RT app I didn't seem to have an issue.

Thanks for the great work.

Having the same problem here, started just a few days ago. Movies is fine, it's just TV shows that are a problem. I've tried all suggestions above with no luck.

In MBC when I go to TV Shows all I see is the backgrounds for the first show (alphabetically, "24") rotating. Nothing else on screen, just the config cog and the user switch icon (new).

Problem only occurs in MBC. Web client and MBT are fine.

Unfortunately I'm not sure which version of MBC I was running when the problem first occurred, I was set to release versions only and it was about 4-5 days ago.

Since then I have updated server and MBC to latest dev builds (there have been several since problem started). Currently running MBC  3.0.108.0 B1-7.1 and MB Server 3.0.5121.29510

I've deleted library.db and mediainfo.db and waited for full scan to complete before starting MBC.

Prior to deletion my library.db was ~125MB, similar size to a previous poster (sorry I forget who), since deletion and recreation it's now ~45MB. I have ~750 Movies in the collection and ~80 TV Shows (not sure how many seasons).

Only curious thing I can see in the MBC logs is:

Can't make much out of the server logs.

Let me know if you want to see full logs, or if you want me to run any tests.

Do you have "Hide Empty Folders" checked in MBC?  If so, try turning it off.

Posted

Hide Empty Folders was off, I just tried turning it on, and then off again. No change either way.

Just updated to latest dev build as well, same.

One extra piece of info that may help, the recently added seems to work fine on the home screen for all media types, TV included. I can happily go to and watch any of the episodes listed under the recently added, I just can't get to the rest of the season (might be a nice extra feature to allow a link from the episode back to the season for when you come in through recently added).

Bring up MBC and confirm you are having this issue.  Then post both the MBC and server logs.

...And I think the reason I can see contents of folders with "movies" in the title, but not "TV" in the title, is because the former contain a mix of titles with AVI, TS, MPG and MKV extensions, and the folders with TV in the titles mainly contain MKV files.

If you are having the same issue, then you can perform the same steps I asked above.  Without that info, I can't help.

I think I may be posting in the wrong place. It looks to me as if my problems track back to the Server side of things. If I add a media folder as type Movies then the subfolders scan OK and items can be seen in the Server media view (top left icon). Added as folder type TV Shows gives me the problem that media folders are visible with the correct number of items in them, but no items are visible in subfolders other than a folder titled "Movies". However, selecting "Episodes" from the TV menu in the server shows every item in each subfolder separately.

I am probably doing something wrong in the server setup.

Attached log files for server and MBC.

Both from a clean restart.

When I opened MBC I browsed to "TV Shows", let the recent addition load, then entered the TV Shows colletion.

Result as before, just the backrgrounds for the first show rotating, no other icons or thumbnails (except clock, user, and config).

This is on MBC 3.0.110.0 B1-13.1, server 3.0.5124.1547.

But then it threw an error...

Interestingly the MBC timestamps seem to have changed, its showing 05:00:00 instead of 17:00:00. Wierd.

Let me know if you want me to try anything.

rove - what happens if you switch from subdued to Chocolate?

I haven't switch to Chocolate, but I have changed my view style from poster to thumbstrip and all looks good!

@@Cheesegeezer, seems to only be a problem in poster view, all other views seem fine.

I'll try chocolate now.

All looks good in Chocolate, all view types. Looks to be limited to Subdued poster view.

No probs, it just started happening a week or so ago for me, had been running fine before then. I suspect my media collection hit a threshold that it just couldnt cope with.

Good luck finding the fix, but dont rush for me, I've switched to coverflow view now, which for some wierd reason I was kinda mimicking with poster view anyway.

@ebr: Just wanted to say thanks for your help. MBC works a treat now. I removed the db files you suggested and I also deleted all the jpegs in the folders and allow MBS to refresh. I used to use media centre master and had up to 25 images (backdrop, backdrop1, backdrop2, etc.) in each folder. Now I only have a couple. I didn't end up increasing the timeout feature in Dev version of MBC so I assume it was one of the steps I did. I am also using chocolate theme. It was a good opportunity to have a tidy up...

Great work guys.... will definitely be donating to help support further dev. going forward.
