Hello,

I do not know where we can make suggestions for the development of Emby, so I post here. I use Emby with multiple data sources, as I have several NAS. But sometimes some NAS can be unavailable.

When a NAS is unavailable, and a scan of the library instead, posters media disappears, the library automatically cleans, which seems very logical. But impossible to know whether we have already play such and such media in the past, or if it is present in our collection ..

So I suggest a different library operations, that is to say that the removal of the poster is not automatic, but a function to check if the media is always available, online, otherwise it displays the tag to indicate that it is offline and if you click on this button future "offline" for he proposes to mask or remove the plug, even to propose a new source.

because some NAS stock only old records I reconnected once the year, such as the ancient collection of old VHS movies.

But when the NAS is offline impossible to know if I have such and such movies in my collection, one is forced to scan the library once the NAS reconnect. Or I refer has a good old Excel file.

Also to go further, Emby able to handle different sources of the same media, the same film with different formats such as VHS, SD, HD, but in the same poster, without duplicates. because sometimes the films are reworked on HD media such as BlueRay and personally I like to keep different qualities of films notament the analog version and digital versions.

With these features, I can delete my excel file to manage and keep my library Emby main library. And particularly can increase the data sources and the same media format.

To end the box idea, I also suggest that we can have a local voting system for the family, for example, has 4 * Dad, Mom put 5 * 3 * HarryPotter has ..

A word

Again thank you to the developer and the community for this great work.

Hi, good ideas. Are you currently seeing a problem with offline behavior?

The annoying thing for me with offline content is the same as the op - the posters disappear.

It would be really nice if all artwork could stay cached even when offline.

It would also be an extremely good idea if the server checked the availability of a library path before attempting to scan everything below it - I've often seen thousands of lines of log errors for access failures when my archive NAS is off.

Here's a thread I started about the same topic a year ago: Offline videos disappeared from server

Good day,

Yes regarding offline = no poster.

Luke one time actually did it :) That offline will not lose the poster, but that from a long time ago :)

Hi all,

Since Emby gives a great deal in appearance, which I love, I think the display of offline content should be improved.

I am not sure what exactly library scan does with cached posters when it finds  a source path offline, but I agree that any cached posters should be used instead of plain text.

I don't know if there are any plans on the roadmap for this, but It would look much nicer with the following additions if possible:

A.  Offline items should be marked with offline indicator, like server's library browser does.

B. CoverArt should add the cover style chosen for that content and not just plain boxes. They don't look nice among the rest online content.

C.  Display cached posters, if available, instead of plain text.
