Zodler 18 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I have a strange problem that is driving me crazy. I have an Emby Server on Windows 10 x64. Emby Add-on on OpenELEC 6 Intel NUC 5i5RYH. Sometimes playback (HTTP) stops. When it stops the video freezes for 20 secs before Kodi/OpenELEC goes back to menu. During that 20 secs if I click for information, I see that my OpenELEC Buffer is full 10 MB and one of 4 of my CPU is at 100%. Video is x264 and hardware decoded, it's not decoded by CPU. I don't know why one CPU core is at 100% when playback freezes. If I resume, it plays again and stops after 5-10 minutes. If I restart my Server PC and OpenELEC, the problem seems to go away for a while. If I play the same file from USB without restarting, no problem. This must mean a network problem but the buffer is full at 10 MB and I have done lan speed tests with enough bandwidth. It's not that simple. So I don't know the problem is the server or the OpenELEC client. I attached both logs here. To make it easy I deleted all logs and stopped at the first playback stop error. Started playing a video around 11:30 pm and it stopped by itself for no reason at around 11:57 pm. Please take a look at the logs and put me in the right direction. Thank you. 01_KODI.log server-63588842972.txt
Zodler 18 Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) So after long investigation I was able to pin point something. This happens if the file is mp4 and has subtitles. I muxed the same file into a new mp4 with no subtitle and no longer the problem. Luke 42083 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 so you're playing from kodi when this happens?
Zodler 18 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Yes the client has to be Kodi (because it supports subtitles in mp4 perhaps?) I tried iOS Emby and Windows Emby Theater and no problem. Maybe because they don't support subtitles in mp4? Also to test, you have to be patient. You have to at least watch 10-20-30 minutes for it to happen on kodi.
