psubsee2002 7 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 We are finishing the basement and considered a 4K TV for our planned rec room. My media collection consists of mostly HD content (1080p, 1080i, and 720p) but I have a few TV series and movies that have some or all 480p content (mostly from DVD-rips but some recorded from SD TV channels) . My biggest concern with the jump is what will the 480p content look like? I know most 4K TV's apparently have upconverters to handle lower resolution content, but I have not seen much on how well they handle SD resolutions. We're not real picky and can tolerate some imperfections but will how well SD resolution content be handled? Will specific TV's or specific manufacturers handle SD content better than others?
Luke 42077 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I'm sure some will invest more effort into upscaling than others but I doubt most people will notice. The industry seems much more focused on acquiring and delivering higher resolution content at this point
