egold 10 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I have this issue with my htpc crashing or causing an issue with my tv using the older version of emby theater, Specs: Amd tri-core AMD 6570 VC 8 gigs ram Mits DLP TV Win 7 set to 1920x1080 @ 60hz. Running at startup Emby Server Serverwmc skpye cam Amd CC everything is turned off except 4:4:4 pixel format With a check mark in the adjust frame rate to match the movie after watching a H264 movie when closing theater the computer crashes when returning to 60hz so I'm thinking. I can change the HDMI input name to pc and I get a plain blue screen. If I change the name to media box I get a black screen. It's almost like the computer is or video car blinks for a sec trying to change back to 60. I decided to just take a check mark out of that box and have not had an issue since. The reason I bring this up here is I'm having the same issue with amazon prime and netflix. It happens in IE11,FF and chrome. I've uninstalled and re installed silverlight with no difference. I've taken a check mark out of the amd audio properties giving exclusive control the app. also with no change, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just curious now that I have the new theater installed i notice there is no box to change the frame rate Thanks in advance
Luke 42083 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Hi, so its' fine with the setting disabled? What is your issue in the web client? It's not exactly the same because the web client does not support any refresh rate changing.
egold 10 Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks for the reply Luke. I do not use the web client that incorporated in the server. I get a lot of buffering at 1080p @ 35. I get much better performance using theatre. I use dxva2copy back. Default audio max streaming just noticed at 3 I just bumped it to 20 filter set stable video renderer evr . did not touch anything else in config buttons. There is no buffering at all with these setting. Kind of off topic I have always been able to update theatre now going from 5848.2554 to 5860.1424 I'm getting a could not find c: htpc\appdata\roaming\mediabrowser theatre \system\mediabrowser.updater.exe. Your help is always appreciated Luke Sent from my A1-840 using Tapatalk
Luke 42083 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 If you setup your library on the server so that the theater app can access it directly, then there streaming settings don't even come into play.
egold 10 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Thanks for the reply Luke Could you lead me in the right direction so the theater app can access the server directly?
bluemonkey07 590 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Press the help button in the server library setup screen to take you to the wiki that explains how to use UNC paths or path substitution
egold 10 Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 I did do the unc for the server as shown in the wiki. I'm supposed to make a new unc for each computer. Yeah that makes sense.
egold 10 Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Let me see if I understand this. Lets say I have a folder on drive D called Movies and One on drive E called MOVIES1. I had created a UNC for each folder on each drive when I first set up the server a few years ago following the directions on the wiki. I assume default library on the UNC part of the wiki is now called path substitution. Lets say my UNC shared is called HTPC-PC\HTPC. Under path substitution I would put from D:\MOVIES to \\HTPC-PC\HTPC\MOVIES and the same for MOVIES1 ? Theater on others PC's look for this substitution path? Does the APP on windows 10 also look for this path substitution? Does the fact that theater on the server plays everything just fine but going through the web client on the server I get buffering mean the video rendering on theater is more efficient vs the web client. Thank you very much for the help so far Luke.

egold 10 Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 I was right I had my UNC shares set up on all my folders. I added the recorded tv folder to the path substitution first to see. That made a very big difference no buffering with the new theater on windows 10 laptop very smooth. The windows 10 app still a lot of freezing. I could see in the upper right corner transcoding looks like from wtv mpeg2 to h264. The android app is also working with no buffering at least on 1 30 minute show I tested it with. As long as theater is working Im not going to worry about the win10 app. I'm going to play with it some more and add the rest of my folders. Luke thank you very much for sticking with me on this.
