Magilla 8 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hi Everyone, this is my first post, so I want first of all to say that I love MB3! It's truly awesome! Great Job guys I've been using MB2 for a while, and I have a large collection of Movies and TV Seriews stored on a file server accessed via UNC names. I've now installed MB3 on a different machine, which in my intention will be the new media server for my home. I'm still using UNC names but of course all playstates are not there anymore. Is there a way to import the playstate from my MB2 collection to MB3 in order to avoid to spend hours in doing it manualy ? I've tried searching in the forums without too much luck... Thanks Magilla
gcw07 347 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) The best way it to sign up for a Trakt account and then for MB2 install the old trakt plugin. Sync your playstates with them. Then in MB3, do the same and then use the feature to pull the playstates from the Trakt server. It is probably the easiest way. trakt.tv Edited December 14, 2013 by gcw07 1
gcw07 347 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I'll also say, that with the way the dashboard is designed now, you can manually mark things relatively quickly. It is a lot quicker then doing it through say MBC with a remote control.
Magilla 8 Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Thanks gcw07, I will give it a try. As you said is also easier to reset the played state from the Web UI, but I was hoping to be able to simply import the status from MB2 (e.g. copying a cache file or something similar). Magilla
AdrianW 1058 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Anyone have tips on playstate migration from MB2 to MB3? It seems like I only have two options: Use TraktTV as detailed above Use the MB3 server web UI to manually mark episodes as played. Movies aren't an issue - but I have a high number of TV series where we're partially through the seasons and/or episodes that it could become a real pain for me if I manage to miss resetting any shows. gcw07 347 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Those are your 2 options really. Trakt is probably the easiest method and least time consuming.

Thanks - but a quick question: If I use Trakt and sync between MB2 on my HTPC and MB3 on my test box (whilst I'm still playing around with MBC/MBT etc for testing) - is it possible to prevent sync going the other way and corrupting playstates on MB2? Oh, and does Trakt work for shows that are unlikely to be in Trakt's database? (My wife watches a lot of Korean and Japanese dramas). Or does Trakt just work off the TVDb ids? gcw07 347 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 For your first question. Either I would upload your playstates to trakt from mb2 and then import it into mb3 and then uninstall the trakt plugin or not worry about your playstates while testing and then worry about importing it in after you have tested. As for shows not in the Trakt system. It is not going to export them from your mb2 installation to trakt so mb3 can't import them in. Those will have to be done manually.
