allen00se 18 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 When watching live TV with the emby app on my FTV, I can pause live TV just fine, but when I go to resume it just exits back to the guide. Anyone else experience this?
tre4b 4 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Should I expect it to pause? I thought mine paused but immediately resumed at current rather than when it was paused.

If you are direct-streaming Live TV then there is nowhere that the stream is being saved while paused. I should probably disable pause in that instance.

ebr 16169 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Please don't do this! Don't do what? Allowing pause when it isn't going to then pick back up where you were paused is not a good plan.

(I'm using a tv plugin, not Emby core tv) Direct streaming i don't know. So please be carefull what you do!
ebr 16169 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 You are using NextPVR, correct? In the case of the external TV providers, it may be that the "direct" streaming is actually to the TV provider as opposed to the tuner and, in that case, the provider may have caching going on that would allow it. So, I guess I would need some sort of indicator in the stream info that tells me whether or not the stream can be paused.
tre4b 4 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks ERB. That is pretty much what I thought. Maybe down the line emby server could pull the data and restream it if required to give the Pause.? It is pretty much a pre-requisite of PVRs even though i'm just happy for now that I can actually record things again :-)

I've tested it again over some longer time (30 minutes) - than it's also brocken for me.But we should ask @@t.andre because his DVBLink plugin can do timeshifting. mmikiska 6 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Same problem here. It actually does resume from pause for about 5 seconds, the first two are mute, the last three are fine, then the lockup. I can go back via the remote, but Emby will just sit there unless I do that. I've also tried setting the show to record and then watching it from the guide. Same issue, even though it's being recorded. If I watch it from the currently recording screen there are no problems. I experienced the same thing on the android app, so I think it's more system wide. To put it in a plain user scenario, if you're watching TV and something interrupts you (like going to the bathroom or someone walking in and talking to you) you can't pause what you're watching. It reminds me of being in High School, and that was a while ago. I wouldn't put this on the top of the list as I think the playback / rendering on AFTV is a higher priority and I still like selecting shows from the guide, but something as basic as pausing live tv is definitely way higher than some of the hobbyist things that work. I understand the explanations in the thread but as others have mentioned, it's something most other solutions have sorted out if they are going for a DVR solution. MCE just treats it like a recording and limits how far you can fast forward. The benefit is that you can always hit record at any time during playback and have what you've been watching (as long as it's the same show that is). Thoughts? There aren't a lot of front ends to get Emby to a TV (or multiple TVs) in a cost effective, family friendly way. This is really close but the experience is lacking.
axehandler 6 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I would need to agree with MMikiska. Currently using ServerMCE and Emby... But if I want to watch TV, I have to switch to KODI due to the limits on Pausing / RR / FF that appear in Emby/ServerWMC. Axe
