Should I expect the delete function to work in client/server configuration?

I'm running Emby on a local file server with Kodi on a separate windows client.

Whether I tell Kodi to delete a file from Emby's  "end of playback" popup or by simply pressing delete on the keyboard, the file is never deleted.

 

Should this work in a server/client config or does delete only work if Emby is local to the Kodi install?

Yes - but perhaps your Emby user doesn't have delete permissions.

 

Settings->Users->[user Name]->Allow Media Deletion

Like xnappo said, check the emby user permission on your server. I have tested this area quite a bit and it was working correctly for me. If it still doesn't work, even if the user has access to delete media, let me know.

That is literally the only setting that isn't on by default for the user in Emby server.
