How to export existing metadata/images to media folders

Hi,

Unfortunately my storage pool decided to disconnect itself yesterday - and when I got that fixed EMS unlocked all my carefully preserved metadata and add genres and images which I didn't want. I had been storing all my metadata in a separate folder on the server. However, as there is no bulk genre editor, I realise I'd be better off storing all my data with the media (which are stored in genre folders), and then using a text editor to replace all the genre labels. I'm not sure if that will prevent Emby unlocking everything again, as I'm not sure why that happened, but hopefully it will make it easier to fix.

I know how to do this (by simply checking the box under the Basics tab under Metadata), but I am confused by a couple of things:

1) What happens if I check that box, *and* set a metadata path under the Advanced Tab? Does it store in both places? How does EMS know which takes precedent?

2) How do i force EMS to actually move all that metadata from the current location to the media folders? Will it happen if I just re-scan, or do I have to scrape everything again? (Ideally I don't want to re-scrape). Or does it just do it from this point forward?

3) What are the advantages/disadvantages of prioritising emby xml over nfo for movies/tv series?

Cheers

Hi, welcome. Unfortunately there is no such option to migrate images from one way to another. When you change settings it only applies to new metadata downloaded going forward.

Nfo is our new default and the xml format is gradually being phased out.

Ah. I guess I can sync via trakt for playstates.

OK. Not ideal but I'll have a play.

Thanks

"Unfortunately no option"?

Maybe you should provide one [emoji6]
