Subtitles not displaying correctly (style, timing, etc)

As of Emby server v3.0, none of my subtitle files are displaying correctly. I am hoping this is an error from a tweaked setting, rather than an issue with the server itself since I couldn't find any other posts discussing this issue. Hopefully someone can help me out, as 75% of my usage of Emby involves subtitles these days, so it is almost completely useless to me.

So here's the problem:

- Subtitles display as the default, unstyled plain white text over a translucent black background, completely ignoring the sub's styling

- The timing of these subtitles is off, and usually gets worse the longer the video plays

- Only one instance of subtitling can display at a time. This means that if there is additional dialogue or signage, or notes in a scene, only one will show up

For instance, here is how the file is supposed to be displayed (source: VLC), and was displayed in Emby v2:

And here is how it currently displays in Emby, in both the web client and the android client:

Yes, sure, I can live without the formatting. But the wrong timing and the lack of multiple subtitle instances means I can't use Emby at the moment.

I'm pretty sure this is a problem with transcribing or the encode/decode process, since there is only one subtitle track and it works correctly in every other half-capable media player. But I don't know how to fix it.

I've attached the transcription log for the test I grabbed the screenshots from.

This will be resolved for the next release of the server. We're just going to burn them in. If you want to switch to beta it will be available sooner.

Thank for the quick response. I switched over to beta and everything is working as intended now.  :)

It's nice to hear that!

But in my case, I prefer to use current way due to my low performance Windows Server (Atom).

Do you consider to put a setting for that instead of fixed to just burn-in subtitle? (Burn-in / overlay...)

Thanks!

I get this even with direct play on android devices, so something is going on with the server in regards to subs.
