Boots 0 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I know this has been posted many times, but I did not want to hijack another thread. I've searched the forums, but nothing has helped yet. I had Media Browser and the plugin for Windows Media Center installed on Win7 64bit and it worked great. I had a few movies that would not play, so I decided to install Emby Theater and start using it since Media Center is dead. I found that after installing, I had remenants of Media Browser and Emby all over the place, so I uninstalled everything, and just installed Emby Server and Emby Theater. Both are on the same PC. Now, when I play a movie, it transcodes and stutters and stops, etc. I can play with VLC player and it plays fine. The movies are stored on an 8TB FreeNAS array, everything wired Gigabit Ethernet. I can easily sustain 120MB/sec. The server and theater are both installed on the same PC, that I used before. It's a Dell Optiplex SFF with an Intel i3-2120 @ 3.30GHz, 4 GB of RAM with a Nvidia Geforce GT 610 discrete video card. I am using the UNC paths for the folders in my library setup. I am not using path substitution. With the server and theater on the same pc, they can both reach those files. After reading other forum posts, this is how I thought they should be set up. Before I had mapped the unc paths to drive letters and it worked perfect without path substitution. If anyone has any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it. If this post needs to be tacked onto another, please let me know and I will do so and delete it. Thanks! transcode-a399b6f6-b928-453d-9572-61404d1bb7a0.txt
Boots 0 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Also, I am ripping BluRay to just the main movie as ISO and then using MakeMKV to create a MKV file. I included the HD audio track and bitstream it to my receiver. Emby Server and Theater are up to date. Using Shark007 codecs. I do not stream off of this network. I have another Emby server at another location that has much faster Internet access and I stream from it. I still have it running the MWC plugin and it is working just fine. Just thought I would add that, in case it matters. Thanks!
Luke 42083 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi, you need to make sure the client app, in this case Theater, has direct access to the paths you've configured in server library setup. Check out our wiki for more info on this: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Library%20Setup
Boots 0 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the reply, Luke. I appreciate it. I have the app and the server running on the same PC. I can browse to "\\entertain\Entertainment\Movies\Fury (2014)\Fury (2014).mkv" from explorer on that server, and that is how I have the library set up in Server, using that UNC path. I can open the MKV file up in other video players. Now in the library setup, I have \\entertain\Entertainment\Movies\ as the location. I am not using path substitution. I did see the wiki before I posted. I just feel like I am missing something. Edit: Corrected the library path. Edited January 9, 2016 by Boots
Boots 0 Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Ok, update: I've uninstalled server and theater. Uninstalled all codec packs (these might have been causing some issues in conjunction with ET), updated all drivers, video, etc, reinstalled server and theater. Set libraries back to exactly what I had before. I'm seeing not as many movies transcoding now, but some still are. I am going to rerip the ones that are and test and check. At the very least, I have one clean system.
