Heuer 76 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 With MPC-HC as an external player sound is in sync. What is going on?
Heuer 76 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 I have MB3 Classic running perfectly with MPC-HC set as an external player. Just decided to give MBT a go and the sound is out of sync on all movies to the point where it is unusable. Is there a way of altering the sound sync in MBT? I can adjust the sound sync via my AV receiver but then I guess the sound will be out when watching TV via WMC. I did a topic search but nothing comes up so am I alone in this? Any help appreciated. Thanks
Heuer 76 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Just done a bit more testing - when I view a movie via my PC the sound is in sync using the on-board sound car. My home theatre is a HTPC and goes through an AV receiver. All the mkv files are on a NAS so I wonder if I previously set a delay in the AV receiver to get MPC-HC in sync which is now not necessary with the internal player? Very odd. If I can set MPC-HC working as an external player that may help me diagnose where the issue is.
gcw07 347 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It sounds like MPC-HC actually causes a slight delay. You've corrected this on your receiver. So when you use a player that doesn't cause the same delay it de-syncs the changes you've made on your receiver.
Heuer 76 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Well I set MBT on my desktop PC to use MPC-HC and the sound is still in sync compared to using the internal player. Also the WMC TV recordings on the HTPC are in sync going through the same receiver and settings. Something odd going on - I will investigate further.
Heuer 76 Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Update on this. Firstly the receiver A/V sync is set to zero ms so is not playing a part. I decided to disable MPC-HC as an mkv external player and bingo the sound is in sync! So for some reason setting up an external player for mkv's (in this case) and then going back in and disabling mkv support brings the internal player sound into sync. And, yes, I did check to see if the internal player was being used for mkv's. Any way of removing external players from the list or is it a case once they are set up they are there forever? Deselecting file types works obviously.
Luke 42077 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Can't remove yet. But thats purely coincidental and has no impact on playback
JDizzy 21 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I have also been suffering audio sync problems since day one. I use the LAV and MADVR filters and also use them JRiver Media Center. I have no problems with JRMC using those filters. I have been trying to track down the problem and have tried audio delay within LAV. The only workaround so far is to use Reclock to try and keep things synced. Reclock does an ok job but would rather not use it. I am hoping once things in MB3 get more optimized the problem will go away. I am using MBT. Edited December 15, 2013 by JDizzy
Heuer 76 Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 I also have MadVR, LAV and Reclock installed and it was still doing it. Worked perfectly in MB3 Classic and enabling/disabling external player improved things but I can still detect it is not fully in sync. I will give disabling MadVR a go and see what happens.
cncb 25 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I am hoping once things in MB3 get more optimized the problem will go away. Do we know if playback issues are being worked on? I have stuttering/jerky playback in MKVs that I don't get in other players (WMC & JRMC).
