Direct Stream mp4 ac3 audio ?

Hi,

 

One of remote friends called me and said "I don't get any sound when I watch recorded TV" everything else plays ok. I checked and my recorded tv is encoded to mp4 with Ac3 audio. Either the client or server is trying to direct stream playback, but I don't think ios supports ac3.

 

Should or can this combo be recognized as needing transcoding ?

that won't direct stream due to the ac3

Hi,

 

Is there an auto setting I can tell her to use ? The profile is set to auto stream rate. Not a sophisticated techy just wants to click on something and have it play. .

My missus also had no audio on her Ipad using the Emby app trying to watch one particular TV show. Media info is pretty much the same as reported here.
