raidmyck 0 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Hi, i am experiencing problems with the emby app for the FireTV Stick. The server always starts transcoding my files (which are all mkv/h264), but I can't figure out why. I have activated substitute paths to use direct playback (it seems to work according to the media info screen below) and I also set the maximum bitrate in the emby app to 40 mb/s to rule out a too low set bitrate, but it's still transcoding Playback in this way is really annoying for my server is an old AMD Athlon 64 As it can be seen in the transcoding log, the server maps the streams in the following way: Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (h264 (native) -> h264 (libx264)) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> aac (native)) Why is my setup behaving like this? Any help is very much appreciated :-) /edit: Subtitles are off. /edit2: It seems to work with Google Chrome, Emby is still transcoding, but only the audio stream: Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> aac (native)) server.txt transcode.txt Edited January 3, 2016 by raidmyck
raidmyck 0 Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 oh well... it looks like the FTV stick offers too weak performance All HD video is transcoded at the server on the Fire Stick because the processor on that device had trouble decoding direct streams with VLC.
