KarlDag 25 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Hey guys! I'm new to Emby (trying it out, really), been using Plex for about 2 years... I've set up my libraries on my server, and this look good so far. The problem I am facing right now is this: to facilitate streaming to remote users, I have pre-transcoded some files to a lower bitrate (4Mbps), which allows me to offer better visual quality than Plex's on the fly transcoder, and my users can direct play, which works much better than transcoding when you want to FFW/RW... In Plex, my original file and the transcoded one show up as one movie/TV episode, and Plex decides which one to serve depending on client settings, bandwidth, etc. In Emby, both files show up seperately, so I have the same movie or episode twice with no obvious way to see bitrate from the homepage. Is there a way to merge them in the library? Thanks!
KarlDag 25 Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 See "Multi-Resolution" here. Thanks. Is it strictly based on resolution? For example, what if I have 2 1080p files with different bitrates? Also, would this work for TV series episodes?
Luke 42083 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 it can be any criteria you want. we just haven't implemented it for episodes yet.
