grazza2a 2 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 It's been a while since I last tried Emby and I'm liking what I'm seeing. I have only one niggle that I can't seem to find an answer for... I've saved an image file for cover art into the root of each title's folder called dvdcover.jpg Example - Parent Folder: DVD Movies Sub Folder: Alien (1979) Files in Folder: Alien (1979).mkv dvdcover.jpg Extras (Folder - also has the dvdcover.jpg file in it) Sub Folder: Aliens (1986) Files in Folder: Aliens (1986).mkv dvdcover.jpg Extras (Folder - also has the dvdcover.jpg file in it) etc... x 1000s of titles... Instead of downloading metadata and other cover art, I simply want Emby to look in the root of each title's folder and extract the relevant dvdcover.jpg file as the primary image for that title. I'm not a huge fan of metadata and I find a relience on using it to find the correct image or description for TV shows and movies can be hit and miss - so I prefer a simple folder view of my content that shows the cover art I've already chosen / downloaded / created. I can see that I can change cover art manually for each individual title but wondered if Emby can do this automatically? Is this possible? Many thanks in advance.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 If you used the standard naming conventions for the images this would happen automatically. Rename them to poster.jpg. I also strongly recommend storing metadata in the folders with the movie files and allowing download of metadata if you plan to use emby.
Luke 42080 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hi, welcome. Our supported naming conventions for movies and images are listed here in our wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming Unfortunately right now there's no way to configure the system to use your dvdcover.jpg
grazza2a 2 Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Many thanks for the quick replies - renaming my cover art jpgs solved the problem. Much appreciated.
