AgileHumor 123 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I wanted to recommend Emby to a friend. Is there a small "cube like" setup that will transcode 2-3 streams, use Emby Theater locally, and have 4 or 5 hard disk bays (4 x 3.5 and 1 x 2.5)?

Very well built, great cooling, 6 3.5 bays, (4 if you have a long graphics card). Some people have also mounted 2.5 to the outside of the disk holder in addition to these.

If all goes as planed the power usage should be around 10-15 watts and as you can see it is a small case. The big part that might help with your streams would be the CPU. While it isn't a high-end CPU it does have QuickSync which the newest Emby Builds support. I have not tested this nor can I say it will work well but it should. rarefc3s 1 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I have a Shuttle XPC. It has two mini PCI-E slots and one supports mSATA. You stick a mSATA SSD drive in there for the OS, the other one people use Wifi but I would never. It has space for only two 3.5 drives though, not the 4 you wanted but not bad for $260.00. You could possibly use a drive adapter though and load more 3.5 drives in the space for the optical drive if you don't want or need a BluRay/DVD. It does have for 4 SATA connections on the MB. I love mine besides the stock fan can get loud. Their cooling system for the CPU/GPU really seems to work well. Edited January 7, 2016 by rarefc3s 1

As I can say from experience the Intel Nuc makes a wonderful box for under the TV. Small, easy, and takes little power plus has a built in IR for the remote. While there isn't room for 3-5 hard drives it has two USB ports for external drives.
