Samsung have a pointing device we are considering but doing both might be a challenge.

Oh, that would be a magical day!

Magical would be support for those of us with Evolution Kits.  At least you can play hevc without transcoding

However, support for the pointer remote would still be nice ;)

Chess, how do we detect Frost's evo kit and promote the model Id to H series?

It was me  :)

Essentially you just need to update the "selectedIndex" variable in an onMouseOver event handler. It worked for about 75% of screens, but I ran into a couple of issues I couldn't work around, then life got crazy.

Happy to pass on the code I did get done if anyone wants a look.

@@MongooseMan - I'm soo sorry i couldn't remember!! Has been driving me mad. But if you could make it available I would really appreciate it - I don't think the code has changed much since then in that regard.

@@cmcg -> I dont think you can detect the evo kit. What needs to change is that there is a getVersion() method which returns the Smart Hub Version, which I assume increases with the Evo Kit. So basically instead of relying on model number the code should rely on the smart hub version / combination of both.

Sort of like this?  This is from the server log which sees a 2014 SmartHub

Could be. Mine says SmartTV Safari/535.20+ for my 2013 F-Series.

I guess I was clued on the part that said "SmartTV+2014".  I can't remember, but assume the TV returned SmartTV 2013 before the evokit

Hmm I'm not sure what else to suggest. getSystemVersion() in the deviceAPI may work. How you tell which is which I have no idea

If the functions you mentioned return the same year info then that would be fine.  Then instead of stripping the F from the TV model as you said it would use 2014 from the SmartHub version and use the H-series code

Hi guys,

Please let me share my findings with new version 2.1.0c, which unfortunately are not good (going backwards) in my case.

Last version I used before installing this 2.1.0c was 2.0.7 and I am using a UE55ES7000, with an evolution Kit SEK-2000 that brings it to H level.

a. New selection effect:

Of course it is a personal thing, but I do not like it AT ALL and preferred the previous effect much better.

Problem with the new one is that unless you go select each movie one by one to get it in focus, you can hardly read the others (not in focus) or to the very least it looks quite boring (much of the screen seem "Grayed out" except one movie. Again it is probably a personal preference issue, but it would be great if we could chose via a new option (sorry if it was already there, but could not find it)

b. Performance:

I do not know what you changed between 2.0.7 and 2.1.0c and how it could affect my case, but never had a problem before up to 2.0.7, and now it became VERY slow, basically 1 or 1.5 seconds to refresh an entire page of movies, or even to display the logo or each movie. Again, I never measured it before, because I never had any issue with performance, but now it became very obvious in any screen of the App.

c. E or H model:

How can I find out how Emby for Samsung TV detects my configuration (E or H), could this be the new point that now detects as E and becomes real slow?

Final question, even if I doubt there is a positive answer: Can I downgrade to 2.0.7 until these issues are solved?

Thanks a lot for the great job and sorry if my feedback is not very positive, but I hope that helps you too.

Look at the log on your TV and it should specify what is sees for your model right after it starts up.  I have the SEK2000 also, but on my F8000 and it still says "Model Year is F".  This is what we've actually been talking about above which is to use the SmartHub version instead of the TV model.

It looks like 2.07 is still on GitHub.  You can download the zip there if you wish, or you could try the SD version which might be quicker.  Strange though because 2.1.0c is faster for me than 2.0.7

My screen where you enter the IP was off a little the first time I installed 2.1.0c too, but not nearly that bad.  If I remember right the keypad had just the numbers on the screen and there was no buttons or box around them.  I can't seem to duplicate what I saw the first time anymore though and I've reinstalled it 3 or 4 times since.  The one thing I did do the second time was delete the app first before reinstalling.  Not sure if that helped, or if it just fixed itself.

If you restart the television does the problem reappear? It looks like parts of a different app over the top of Emby. There is no Spanish text in Emby. Maybe delete the app and install again.

A: I sort of agree but we need to strike a balance and support people's choice of cover art effects. So drawing a box around the image is an idea we need to move away from.

B: 2.1.0d will be much better.

C: E I'm afraid. We'll see what we can do to detect evo kits. It could go in TV settings under "Model Year Override" I suppose.

This.

There are two points of focus on selection screens: the currently selected item, and all the items you look at to find which item you want to go to next. You've dimmed the latter focus-point, which is the most important one.

What was wrong with the white border for the selected item? It was one of the things I felt worked really well! The new thing, making the selected item bigger, it works...yeah...I would probably like it better if they became a little less bigger, AND had the white awesomely ghostly border. I don't know about the getting-bigger thing.

Why the rounded edges? Posters and movies are always square, anyway. I can live with it, but my GF asked me to mention it.

Bug:

I have an episode in a low resolution, and the image displayed on the "Continue watching" list, is half the size of the element. Meaning it is a small image, with space around it, and the rounded black border.

That said, in general the navigation in the app seems to perform better. Still takes a long time to load all the title-elements on row-views. Looking forward to see chess' cache update.

Thanks for all your input. I've been working to merge mine and Chess' updates. A new beta will be with you soon.

I must be the only one who likes the way it is now, but agree with others that the dimmed posters would be nicer if they weren't so dimmed so you could see what you're looking for.

Maybe a white background instead of a white border for those of us using CA so you don't get that black in the corners where it is rounded?  Just a thought

I know CSS is a b*tch on these things, but would it be completely impossible to make a user-setting, where you can choose to have the square, white border elements, you know, if you aren't using cover-art? I don't see the point of having bluray-boxes on everything. The old view was awesome, and very easy to oversee. Never in doubt about the selected item, and always able to find what I wanted to see.

Sorry if I'm bumming you guys. I feel like I have to speak my mind. You pick and choose what you agree with, and what most people say most.

Here's a very crude attempt to show what I'm talking about using a white background vs a white border.  I just started filling in the bottom to show those who don't use CA what we saw.

With a border you get all the black inside, with a white background though it gets all filled in with white.  Not sure what I think, and it may be too much white for people using CA, but the people using plain posters like Ultroman wouldn't notice a difference because the poster would fill all that in just like it did before.

Why do CA-items have that black border on the top and right side? How does that help anything?

Wouldn't a combined fix, like Frostbyte suggests, be much easier if those weren't there?

I think that's the way it is on the webclient too, it's a little smaller than normal posters (posters are shrunk to fit CA by default) but you just don't notice it there.  I think there is an option in the CA plugin to stretch the CA to poster size, if not then maybe the app can stretch it to fit and then eliminate the black border that way?  You would still see some black in the corners where it is rounded though I guess even if it's stretched

I may not have the full picture, but I'm having a hard time seeing why the app has to accommodate a plugin. Shouldn't the plugin be written to fit the apps, instead of the other way around?

I guess because the other apps already accommodate the plugin?
