How to get a consistent graphical experience?

First let me just say that use Xzener's flat icons for everything, because I don't like the look of all the built-in stuff.   Also, all of my libraries except music are set as "mixed content", because there's no other way to get straight folder browsing to work properly with libraries set as "movies" or "tv".  (If someone can explain another way to do this i'd love to hear it)

My problem is that the visual experience of Emby is drastically different, and exhibits different oddities across the various platforms.   It's driving me crazy enough that I think i'm going to have to give plex look.   Here is a probably not-complete list.

  • Web Client
    • The front page stretches the icons of any library set as music
    • The front page "shrinks" the icon of the "Trailers" channel
    • (neither of these visual oddities happen in any of the other methods I access emby)
    • Inside my Movies library, it shows all my genre folders perfectly....but if there are any sub-folders within it shrinks the graphic to be "Box" artwork shape.   I've tried creating actual Box artwork (with blank space so it doesn't stretch) for these subfolders, but it still chooses the default artwork and stretches it.
  • Emby (Fromt Windows Store)
    • Clicking on the Movies library shows all my folder in box-art dimensions therefore squishing the icons.
    • Because I have a library that points to my WMC recorded folder Emby tries to put that content in "New Movies".  Since it cannot generate thumbnails from WMC recorded content, my home-screen looks like a mess of gray squares.
  • Emby for FireTV
    • Generally better display than most other UI's, but the grey boxes around all the main libraries is ugly.
  • Emby for WMC
    • For what it's worth, this UI is perfect!

So how does everyone get a visual experience they are happy with?

As far as top level images are concerned, 16*9 is the recommended aspect ratio and that's what app developers have been told to expect. Ensure yours are 16*9 and almost everything above will be resolved.

To get the visual experience I was happy with I wrote my own client lol... Embraced some of the concepts I liked in Arctic Zephyr and made it more Android friendly.

That looks great, can see the arctic zephyr influences which I like very much (use this skin on all my kodi installs). Well done.
